  • Publication number: 20040241426
Abstract: A process for the preparation of polymer magnetic particles, which comprises: providing a water phase containing magnetic components homogeneously dispersed therein, wherein the water phase is contacted with or further contains a polymerisable metal-containing or organic monomer which is soluble in the water phase, and polymerizing the monomer in the presence of the magnetic components so as to form polymer magnetic particles in which the magnetic components are substantially uniformly distributed; wherein at least a part of the polymerizing step is carried out in a water-in-oil emulsion in which the water phase containing the magnetic components homogenously dispersed therein is present as a discontinuous phase in a continuous oil phase.

  • Publication number: 20040074644
Abstract: The invention provides a method for the treatment of a hydrocarbon well which method comprises administering down said well polymeric particles having covalently bound to a polymeric component thereof a well treatment chemical or a precursor thereof, said particles containing covalent bonds scissile in an aqueous environment to release or expose said chemical or precursor.

  • Publication number: 20040074646
Abstract: Gelatin capsules containing oil field chemicals, preferably weighted with a heavy metal compound, are made more stable under certain conditions by the incorporation of a strong chelating agent. The microcapsules can provide an extended treatment period since many materials that would damage the microcapsules are controlled by the chelating agent.

  • Publication number: 20040060702
Abstract: The invention provides a method for the treatment of a hydrocarbon well which method comprises administering down said well polymeric particles impregnated with a well treatment chemical or precursor or generator thereof (e.g. a scale inhibitor), said particles having a pore volume of at least 20%, and being prepared by a process which comprises preparing in a first step an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles containing from 0.

  • Patent number: 6672385
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for well completion, control and monitoring of processes in a reservoir. A combined prefabricated liner and matrix system (4) with defined properties for fast and simple well and/or reservoir completion, monitoring and control is provided. An embodiment of the combined prefabricated liner and matrix system 4 includes an outer perforated tubular pipe system 6, an inner tubular screen 7, and a matrix 8. A method for control and monitoring of processes in a well or reservoir using the combined liner and matrix system is also described. The combined liner/matrix system may be used in any process equipment, such as reactors, separators and storage tanks. The system may also be used in a gas/oil/water producing or injection well for well completion, control and monitoring.

  • Patent number: 6645769
Abstract: A method for monitoring hydrocarbon and water production from different production zones/sections in a hydrocarbon reservoir and/or injection wells and detection of different phenomena such as e.g. local variations in pH, salinity, hydrocarbon composition, temperature, pressure, microorganisms, and the difference between production of formation and/or injection water from various zones/sections. The method includes dividing regions around wells in the reservoir into a number of zones/sections, and injecting or placing specific tracers with unique characteristics for each zone/section into the formation in these regions such that tracers are placed as integrated parts of the well completion or placed and immobilized in these regions through injection, squeeze or by other techniques. The tracers can also be immobilized or placed on a filter, a casing or other constructions surrounding the well in each zone/section. The tracers are specific or introduced to give specific information from each zone/section.
