  • Publication number: 20120217007
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for monitoring hydro-carbon production from a hydrocarbon reservoir comprising the steps of performing a reservoir treatment process for stimulating hydrocarbon production including injection of a fluid into the reservoir, performing a seismic survey on the reservoir, obtaining a set of acoustic signals from said seismic survey and determine from the obtained acoustic signals the distribution of different contents within the reservoir, wherein the method comprises an intermediate step of adding a substance for increasing the acoustic contrast of the fluid prior to or in conjunction with injecting the fluid into the reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20120041610
Abstract: A controller for controlling a combined heat and power (CHP) system which can include one or more CHP units, can comprise a high level optimizer and one or more low level optimizers. The high level optimizer can be configured to optimize a total cost of producing heating, cooling, and electric power, by allocating total heating, cooling, and/or electric power setpoints one or more CHP unit types, based on the fuel price, CHP unit operational constraints, and/or heating, cooling, and/or electric power demand. The low level optimizer can be configured to allocate cooling, heating, and/or electric power setpoints to individual CHP units, based on the high level allocation to CHP unit types.

  • Patent number: 6977121
Abstract: A fuel cell power plant (10) having a fuel concentration sensor cell (54) is disclosed for detecting a concentration of fuel in a fuel cell (12) of the plant (10). A portion of a fuel exhaust stream is directed to flow through the sensor cell (54) adjacent to a membrane electrode assembly (60) of the sensor cell (54). A power circuit (62) may or may not deliver an electrical current to the cell (12), while changes in voltage across the cell (12) that are proportional to changes in hydrogen concentrations within the fuel exhaust stream are detected by a detector (68) which communicates the changes to a controller (108) for controlling a rate of fuel supply to the fuel cell (12). A porous sensor water transport plate (74) cools, humidifies delivers and removes liquid from the sensor cell (12).

  • Patent number: 5838010
Abstract: A method for improving single photo emission computed tomography accuracy by determining photon impact locations within a detector field using PMT intensity signals from all PMTs in an array. The method includes determining the row and column of a PMT which is closest to an impacting photon, subtracting the sum of intensity signals to the left of the identified column from the sum of intensity signals to the right of the identified column generating a differentiated width signal, subtracting the sum of intensity signals above the identified row from the sum of intensity signals below the identified row to provide a differentiated length signal and correlating the differentiated width and length signals with length and width field curves to identify the impact location.

  • Patent number: 5237179
Abstract: An assembly is provided for improving operation of a radiation detection system which comprises a scintillation crystal 1, a photomultiplier tube 5 having a cathode maintained at a high negative voltage, a glass wall 3 positioned between the crystal and the tube, and structure 7 supporting the tube to receive a light signal from the crystal representing radiation received thereby. The assembly includes structure 4, 11 for applying the same high negative voltage to the crystal 1, and further includes structure 10 for electrically isolating the supporting structure 7 from the crystal 1 and glass wall 3, the supporting structure 7 being maintained at ground potential.
