Patent number: 9044548Abstract: An air shot or priming mechanism for an injection pen. The injection pen comprises a cartridge-holder and a housing. The cartridge-holder interacts with a nut-member capable of driving the piston rod forward when relatively rotated. The cartridge-holder is rotational coupled to the housing such that rotation of the cartridge-holder relatively to the housing causes the nut-member and the piston rod to rotate relatively, thus the relative angular rotation between the cartridge-holder and the housing determines the size of the air shot so performed.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2006Date of Patent: June 2, 2015Assignee: Novo Nordisk A/SInventors: Thomas Dedenroth Miller, Martin von Bülow, Klaus Thøgersen, Lars Mørch Groth

Patent number: 8444606Abstract: The invention concerns an injection device for apportioning set doses of a drug from a reservoir to a subject. The injection device comprises a housing having an interior thread formed as an outwardly pointing thread carried on an upstanding tower centrally located in the pen shaped device. This outwardly pointing thread forms a first thread connection with the interior thread of the rotatable scale drum. The injection device further comprises a driver for moving the piston rod forward when moved axially. The driver operates the piston rod through a second thread connection having a pitch different than the first thread connection.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2009Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Novo Nordisk A/SInventors: Bo Radmer, Claus Schmidt Moller, Lars Morch Groth, Klaus Thogersen

Publication number: 20080287883Abstract: The application concerns an injection device for apportioning set doses of a drug from a reservoir (40) to a subject. The injection device comprises a housing having an interior thread (101,112) formed as an outwardly pointing thread (101,112) carried on an upstanding tower centrally located in the pen shaped device. This outwardly pointing thread (101,112) forms a first thread connection with the interior thread of the rotatable scale drum (90). The injection device further comprises a driver (70) for moving the piston rod (120) forward when moved axially. The driver (70) operates the piston rod (120) through a second thread connection having a pitch different than the first thread connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2005Publication date: November 20, 2008Applicant: Novo Nordisk A/SInventors: Bo Radmer, Claus Schmidt Moller, Lars Morch Groth, Klaus Thogersen

Patent number: 7134550Abstract: A needle magazine for storing a plurality of needle assemblies and for selectively dispensing said needle assemblies there from. The needle magazine comprises a cylinder-shaped base member with an upper surface and a bottom surface. These two surfaces are parallel to each other and connected by a cylinder-shaped surface. The base-member is provided with a number of compartments each having the form of a sector of a circle. Each compartment contains a needle assembly positioned in a horizontal position. The base member is at least partly covered by a cover having a first part parallel with the upper surface and a second part parallel with the cylinder-shaped surface of the base member, and which second part is provided with an opening through which access to each compartment can be gained radial of the axis of rotation of the cover.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2001Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: Novo Nordisk A/SInventor: Lars Mørch Groth

Publication number: 20030135194Abstract: A cartridge for holding a liquid and for use in a medical delivery device has an elongate barrel provided with a central axis and having a first opening at a first end thereof and a second opening at a second end thereof. The first opening is sealed off by a first sealing means provided with a puncturing area to be punctured by a conduit, such as a hollow needle, and the second opening is sealed off by a stopper that is in intimate contact with a general inner surface of the barrel and is movable within the barrel towards the first sealing means. The puncturing area of the first sealing means is located radially outside the general inner surface of the barrel.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2002Publication date: July 17, 2003Inventors: Henrik Sonderskov Klint, Jens Moller Jensen, Lars Morch Groth, Andre Larsen, Lars Skouboe

Publication number: 20020020646Abstract: The system is a semi automatic needle magazine mounted on, or as a part of a medication delivery system. It comprises of a plurality of confinements each containing an injection needle. The needle magazine can be rotated in order to position one injection needle at the time in front of a cartridge located in the medication delivery system. Once the injection needle is located in front of the cartridge the needle magazine can be pushed towards the medication delivery system whereby the injection needle penetrates the septum of the cartridge.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2001Publication date: February 21, 2002Inventors: Lars Morch Groth, Niels Hvid, Carsten Gerner Larsen

Publication number: 20020014430Abstract: A needle magazine for storing a plurality of needle assemblies and for selectively dispensing the needle assemblies there from. The needle magazine comprises a base member with a number of individual compartments each containing a separate housing. Each compartment is at the upper surface provided with a movable lid, which can be opened to gain access to the interior of each individual compartment. Each housing contains one needle assembly, and is mounted in the compartments of the base member in a way making it possible to rotate the housing and thereby the needle assembly without rotating the base member, by providing each housing with a circumferential flange, which is fitted into a circumferential track on the interior surface of each compartment of the base member.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 2, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Inventor: Lars Morch Groth

Publication number: 20020010434Abstract: The needle assembly comprises a hub with a thread fitting the thread of a standard medical injection device. The hub is mounted with a cannula. The cannula has a proximal end that can penetrate the septum of a cartridge and a distal end that can penetrate the skin a patient. A protective sleeve surrounding the cannula is mounted at the distal end of a conical spring, which is mounted on the distal surface of the hub. The protective sleeve is locked in position near the distal surface of the hub. The protective sleeve is released when the needle is fully inserted into the patients skin, and slides along the needle cannula toward the distal end as the needle is withdrawn from the patient. When the protective sleeve reaches the distal end of the cannula it locks in position preventing further access to the distal end of the cannula.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2001Publication date: January 24, 2002Inventors: Carsten Gerner Larsen, Lars Morch Groth
