  • Publication number: 20170250948
Abstract: A method in a network node for handling a traffic flow of a User Equipment, UE is provided. The network node is related to a local service cloud. The traffic flow is related to an application session to be served by the local service cloud. The network node identifies (202) a UE Internet Protocol, IP, address of the UE. When the identified UE IP address is used by another UE in a first Virtual Local Area Network, VLAN, comprised in the local service cloud, the network node selects (204) a second VLAN comprised in the local service cloud for local break out of the traffic flow of the application session to the local service cloud. In the second VLAN, the identified UE IP address is not used by another UE.

  • Publication number: 20170250782
Abstract: It is disclosed a client node, a first network node, a second network node, and methods therefore, for enabling forward error correction, FEC, of data. In uplink, the client node is adapted to transmit a lightweight FEC packet, enabling to save radio resources. The first network node adapted to calculate a payload for the FEC packet and to append the payload to a “lightweight” FEC packet, and to transmit the thus modified FEC packet to an endpoint of the uplink. In the downlink, the second network node may be adapted to determine whether a received FEC packet is redundant or not, and is adapted not to transmit it as is, to an endpoint client node, if the FEC packet is redundant, enabling saving radio resources.

  • Patent number: 9729650
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing data to a network terminal. A network node receives information relating to a first instance of a client running at the network terminal. Using the information, the network node concurrently runs a second instance of the client that emulates the first instance. Using the second instance, the network node generates a request for data required by the first instance. Before receiving a request for data generated by the first instance, the network node sends the request for data required by the first instance to a remote server and receives a response that includes the required data. The required data is then sent to the network terminal. The advantage of this is that the request for data required is generated before the network node receives a request from the network terminal. This allows the request to be handled more quickly.

  • Patent number: 9703752
Abstract: There is described a method for optimizing the distribution of data objects between caches in a cache domain of a resource limited network. User requests for data objects are received at caches in the cache domain. A notification is sent from each cache at which a request is received to a cache manager. The notification reports the user request and identifies the requested data object. At the cache manager, object information including the request frequency of each requested data object and the locations of the caches at which the requests were received is collated and stored. At the cache manager, objects for distribution within the cache domain are identified on the basis of the object information. Instructions are sent from the cache manager to the caches to distribute data objects stored in those caches between themselves.

  • Publication number: 20170181082
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for controlling a manner of delivering content to a content user in a mobile telecommunication network are provided. The content is sent to the content user using first a first transmission rate when the content user is in a first radio state and uses a first battery power, and then using a second transmission rate that is lower than the first transmission rate, when the content user is in a second radio state and uses a second battery power that is smaller than the first battery power. The sending is performed such as, (A) while delivering the content, an amount of the content already received by the content user to exceed an amount of the content used by the content user, and (B) to minimize an energy used by the content user during delivery.

  • Patent number: 9661568
Abstract: A method is presented for adjusting power consumption in a network node of a cellular communication system. The method is performed in a power adaption device and comprises the steps of aggregating bitrates for all traffic flows associated with a power amplifier of the network node to an aggregated bitrate, determining when to adjust power consumption by determining whether power consumption of the power amplifier can be reduced with acceptable effect on the traffic flows associated with the power amplifier, and adjusting power consumption by reducing power consumption of the power amplifier when it is determined that the power consumption of the power amplifier can be reduced with acceptable effect on the traffic flows associated with the power amplifier. A corresponding power adaptation device is also presented.

  • Publication number: 20170142074
Abstract: Methods and a first node (110), a second node (120) and a network node (130) for managing traffic characteristics of one or more packets on a connection are disclosed. The first node (110) exchanges (303), with the network node (130), traffic characteristic semantics and a common key for encryption of a traffic characteristic value to be applied for the one or more packets on the connection, wherein the traffic characteristic semantics include the traffic characteristic value and an associated characteristic for the one or more packets. Moreover, the first node (110) sends (309) the traffic characteristic value and the common key to the second node (120). The network node (130) checks and applies (312) the traffic characteristics value according to service policies of the network node (130). Next, the first node (110) exchanges (311), with the second node (120), payload which includes one or more packets over the connection.

  • Patent number: 9510170
Abstract: A method of performing a compression operation on data in a mobile communication network. An intermediate node located between a mobile terminal and a mobility anchor point node, receives a data payload. If the intermediate node has access to compression information required to perform the compression operation, it performs the compression operation to generate a modified data payload and sends the modified data payload to a next node. If the intermediate node does not have access to compression information required to perform the compression operation, it sends the data payload to the next node. The compression operation may be data compression or de-compression.

  • Patent number: 9479560
Abstract: There is described a method and apparatus for sending data through one or more packet data networks. A stripped-down packet is sent from a packet sending node towards a cache node, the stripped down packet including in its payload a pointer to a payload data segment stored in a file at the cache node. When the stripped-down packet is received at the cache node, the pointer is used to identify the payload data segment from data stored at the cache node. The payload data segment is inserted into the stripped-down packet in place of the pointer so as to generate a full size packet, which is sent from the cache node towards a client.

  • Patent number: 9479445
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and network node for controlling a plurality of flows of application data in a radio network. The plurality of flows and a cost measure associated with each flow is detected. The cost measure is an indication of an amount of radio resources required for supplying an amount of application data to an end-user of the flow. Further, key performance indicators associated with the plurality of flows are monitored. A key performance indicator is indicative of a supply of application data needed to maintain a satisfactory quality of experience for an application session associated with the flow. Further, scheduling decisions, to control scheduling of the plurality of flows, are made based on the cost measures and key performance indicators associated with the plurality of flows to optimize the quality of experience of the application sessions associated with the plurality of flows.
