  • Publication number: 20120036535
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for receiving media content comprising a plurality of media channels; transmitting information related to the media content to at least one remote control; receiving, responsive to the transmitted information, user input related to different media channels of the plurality of media channels; concurrently tuning, based on the user input, the media content to the different media channels; converting the media content in the different media channels into transmission signals; and selectively transmit the transmission signals to different network devices.

  • Patent number: 8060910
Abstract: Systems, methods and devices are provided for enabling a wireless television network at a subscriber location in a subscriber television network, such as a cable or satellite television network. In general, a set top box apparatus is provided having a receiver configured to receive a media content signal from the television network, the media content signal being composed of a plurality of channels. The set top box comprises a plurality of tuners for tuning to various channels available in the media content signal. At least a first tuner of the plurality of tuners is operatively coupled to a radio frequency transmitter of the set top box. The radio frequency transmitter is configured to utilize an antenna to communicate a radio frequency signal for wirelessly communicating media content received by the first tuner to at least one remote television. In an embodiment, the set top box further includes at least one radio frequency remote control for controlling the tuning of the first tuner.

  • Patent number: 5978855
Abstract: Set-top terminals utilized in broadband broadcast networks are becoming increasingly intelligent (programmable). However, transmitting executable code, data and interactive audio/video materials through a selectively dedicated link requires an extensive, broadband point-to-point broadband network, which is prohibitively expensive to implement for large numbers of customers. The present invention provides for downloading application software and transmitting audio/video information through one channel of a digital broadcast network. The network also provides two-way, low-speed data communications capacity, e.g. for signaling and/or interactive text services. Signaling via data communication with a text server controls downloading of executable code from the digital broadcast channel into a programmable digital set-top terminal. Execution of the downloaded code in turn controls selective capture and presentation of audio and video segments received over one of the digital broadcast channels.
