  • Patent number: 6957487
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an elongate fluid conveying tube that includes starting from a blank of metal material, wherein the fluid conveying tube is adapted to be mounted in a vehicle cooler and comprises at least two internal elongate ducts. The method of manufacturing the tube includes forming a projecting surface structure on a portion of the surface of the blank. The method also includes defining a substantially flat web portion between two upright edge portions that are formed along two opposite edges of the blank. Additionally, the method involves forming the ducts such that the edge portions are situated perpendicular to the web portion and the outer faces of said edge portions are brought into abutment against each other and against the web portion for defining said ducts.

  • Patent number: 6935418
Abstract: A fluid conveying tube included in a vehicle cooler comprises on its inside first and second opposite longitudinal primary heat exchange surfaces, and flow-directing surface structures which are arranged on the primary surfaces. Each surface structure comprises a plurality of elongate directing elements projecting from the primary surfaces. The surface structures are alternatingly arranged on the first and second primary surfaces in such manner that directing elements, succeeding in the longitudinal direction of the primary surfaces, are alternatingly arranged on the first and second primary surfaces and are mutually inclined at a given angle (?). Each surface structure comprises a laterally extending row of mutually parallel directing elements. Thus an input fluid flow is divided into a number of parallel partial flows which follow a respective spiral-shaped flow path through the tube, whereby a high heat exchanging capacity is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20030033993
Abstract: In a cooling device for cooling charge air from a compressor (3) in an engine (9) and hydraulic oil from a retarder (14), a first coolant flow (m1) is provided in a coolant conduit (20). The engine (9) is cooled by the whole first coolant flow (m1). The cooling device comprises a first a first charge-air cooler (4), which is cooled by means of a second coolant flow (m2), and a second charge-air cooler (5), which is cooled by means of a low-temperature fluid (32). The cooling device further comprises a retarder cooler (17) for cooling hydraulic oil from the retarder (14), said retarder cooler (17) being cooled by means of a third coolant flow (m3). Both the second coolant flow (m2) and the third coolant flow (m3) are subflows of the first coolant flow (m1). In a method utilizing the cooling device for cooling charge air as well as hydraulic oil from a retarder (14), a second coolant flow (m2) and a third coolant flow (m3) are used, both of which are subflows of the first coolant flow (m1).

  • Patent number: 6510870
Abstract: A fluid conveying tube for a vehicle cooler comprises at least two longitudinal ducts, each comprising two opposite, longitudinal primary heat exchange surfaces. At least one primary surface in each duct of the tube has a projecting surface structure. In a method of manufacturing such a tube, starting from a blank, use is made of a device, which has a feeder for feeding the blank through the device and a surface forming station for forming the surface structure on a portion of the blank surface. Furthermore, the device comprises an edge forming station for forming two opposite edges of the blank into two upright edge portions, which between themselves define an at least partly essentially flat web portion. In addition, the device comprises a duct forming station for making the edge portions abut against each other and against the web portion with a view to defining said ducts.

  • Patent number: 6192977
Abstract: A tube for a heat exchanger has a cross-section having two opposed side walls and two opposed ends. The ends have curved portions and one of the ends has a double wall comprising an inner wall and an outer wall. One of these side walls extends to form the outer wall and the other of the side walls extends to form the inner wall. Each of the outer and inner walls has a respective extremity, the inner wall being offset inwardly to accommodate the extremity of the outer wall and the extremity of the inner wall deviating away from the outer wall.
