  • Publication number: 20030209209
Abstract: A wall mounted animal self-grooming device that rotates a cylindrical rubbing means having bristles on its exterior surface about its axis by utilizing a small electric motor. The electric motor is mounted within a housing and coupled to the rubbing means through an opening in the housing base. A transformer and plug assembly is removably stored within the housing and is electrically connected to the electric motor by a length of electrical cord, the unused portion of which is also coiled and stored in the housing. The transformer and plug assembly have at least two prongs that extend from a surface thereof for insertion into a standard electrical wall outlet. In one embodiment, the housing is removably attached to a house wall over the electrical wall outlet having the transformer and plug assembly plugged therein. The transformer and plug assembly protrudes into the housing through a hole in the back wall of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5794568
Abstract: A device that broadcasts several different mouse related sounds to entice an animal into play and necessary claw scratching is comprised of a hollow rock-shaped housing having a flat base. A dual circuit electronic sound synthesizer is concealed within the hollow housing and its first circuit is activated by an on-off switch. The first circuit broadcasts an intermittant mouse related scratching sound. The second circuit is activated by a pressure sensitive switch pad located in each access opening on the housing's surface thereby broadcasting a brief mouse related squeaking sound when activated by an animal's paw. A claw scratching material is affixed to the housing surface, whereby an animal may satisfy its claw scratching needs.

  • Patent number: 5785005
Abstract: An annular ball track is provided with a flat top surface having a material affixed thereon for the purpose of claw scratching. A hollow ball containing an electronic sound synthesizer within is disposed inside the annular track and visible around the periphery of the track. A switch operates the electronic sound synthesizer within the ball and broadcasts mouse related scratching sounds and/or squeaks, thereby serving as an irresistible attractant to an animal for promoting more frequent exercise by swatting and chasing the ball, and to encourage the claw scratching needs inherent to animals, thereby saving articles of furniture from claw damage.

  • Patent number: 5673651
Abstract: A toy for cats provided with a freely moving pivotal annular ball and track mounted on springs surrounding a circular housing. An upper surface (54) provides containment of continuous track assembly (29) around housing (32). A plurality of flexible springs (34) support the track assembly (29) in a level position. As a cat claw scratches on the upper surface material (56), any downward pressure of the track top (40) or outer bottom track edge (44) by the animal's weight will cause the track assembly (29) to pivot or tilt, thereby causing a ball (50) to roll in the track interior. The movement of the ball provokes an animal into immediate play. A miniature electronic sound synthesizer (58) is employed within the housing (32) and intermittantly broadcasts mouse related scratching sounds and such, thereby serving as an attractant to the animal, and encouraging the claw scratching needs inherent to cats.

  • Patent number: 5575240
Abstract: An animal attractant device is disclosed, comprising a ball shaped enclosure 10, a pressure sensitive switch assembly 9, and a dual sound synthesizer assembly 8. The device lures an animal into engaging or contacting the ball by intermittant, luring sounds from synthesizer 36, thereby initiating frequent use of the device. As an animal manipulates or rolls the device, an occasional contact of the pressure sensitive pad 16 of pressure sensitive switch assembly 9 by the animal or floor surface, initiates a brief sound from the second synthesizer 38 unlike the continuous, intermittant lure sound of synthesizer 36.

  • Patent number: 5544623
Abstract: An animal amusement and scratching device causes a ball to be self-moving. The ball (16) is confined within a circular track of housing (10) and is viewable from the top opening (14) of the track by an animal. The slightly curved bottom edges (18) and (20) of the housing base causes the housing to be unstable. When a cat steps on any part of the device's upper surface to claw scratch on the carpeting (12), it will prompt the ball to roll by itself within the track when the unstable housing (10) rocks or teeters under a cat's weight. The unexpected movement of the ball attracts an animal into imminent play.

  • Patent number: 5542376
Abstract: An animal entertainment and exercise device comprising a device housing 14, a top transparent cover 10, an opaque arena lure floor 30, a ball shaped lure 16 containing a magnet 16a, confined between the top transparent cover 10 and the opaque arena lure floor surface 30. A motor mechanism is concealed below the lure floor surface 30, and is comprised of a motor 18, motor output shaft 20, and a sweep arm 22. A plurality of permanent magnets 26 and 24 are affixed to sweep arm 22 of the mechanism. Motor 18 is energized from voltage source 42, via transformer/plug 40 through connecting wires 38, and then to motor 18. The motor 18 operates at a predetermined RPM, thereby orbiting the ball shaped lure 16 around the opaque lure floor surface 30.

  • Patent number: 5540187
Abstract: An animated ball and track attractant device for cats, employing a circular housing 54 containing a miniature motor 62 within its confines, and having an elongated sweep arm mounted at a right angle to the motor output shaft 64. Both sweep arm ends 66 and 68 have permanent magnets 70 and 72 attached thereto, whereby a ball 60 containing a loose permanent magnet 60a within, is attracted to either magnet 70 or 72, thus causing the ball to simultaneously spin and hop as it orbits around an annular track 58, adjacent to the peripheral edge of the circular housing 54, thereby attracting a cat into imminent play with the device.
