  • Patent number: 5102101
Abstract: A strand tensioning tool comprises a tool body, a stationary clamp mounted on the tool body for holding one end of the strand and including a fixed plate secured to the tool body and a gripper plate pivotally mounted on the tool body using two parallel levers for allowing even distribution of clamping stress over a predetermined length of strand, a rotary drum also mounted on the tool body and having a notch across the face thereof for inserting the other end of the strand to tension the strand around packages to be strapped by rotation of the drum, and a guide plate rotatably mounted on the tool body and adapted to trap the strand in the notched drum to prevent it from sliding out of the drum during rotation of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4896572
Abstract: A saw chip collector for use in cutting slots in a work, comprises an enclosure surrounding the saw blade except for an opening at the cutting position, a floating block mounted on the enclosure at the blade cutting position and spring biased against the work for sealing the top of the enclosure against the bottom of the work, an opening in the enclosure at the hub of the saw blade for drawing air into the enclosure, and an output port in the enclosure for flushing out the sawn chips.

  • Patent number: 4667462
Abstract: A method is provided for making a plastic-filled wire rope by preheating a lubricated wire rope to a temperature close to the melting point of the plastic material with which the rope is to be filled, and then injecting the plastic material in molten state under heat and pressure into the wire rope so as to fill essentially completely the interstices between the strands and the individual wires, while displacing and removing most of the lubricant initially present within the rope. The obtained novel plastic-filled, lubricated wire rope has improved wear and fatigue resistance as well as increased life.

  • Patent number: 4576220
Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining a particular atmosphere above a predetermined portion of a train of closely spaced open top containers mounted on an endless conveyor chain, comprises a cover plate located at a predetermined distance above a number of such containers and extending before and after such predetermined portion. The cover plate has a predetermined number of ports therein for feeding a gas through the cover plate to progressively develop a particular atmosphere in the containers as they approach the predetermined portion of the endless conveyor and to maintain such atmosphere in the containers as they pass such predetermined portion.

  • Patent number: 4554123
Abstract: A process and apparatus for direct extrusion of thermal barrier profiles is disclosed. The process comprises the steps of providing an elongated structural member having a lineal cavity therein with an open portion, driving the elongated member past a filling die while simultaneously guiding the elongated member so as to positively locate the open portion of the lineal cavity with respect to the filling die in order to completely close the cavity at the location of the filling die, continuously extruding thermoplastic along the cavity through a fluid flow passage in the filling die, and removing a lineal portion of the structural member opposite to the open portion of the lineal cavity to form the thermal barrier profile.
