Patent number: 5265739Abstract: A storage rack system for providing high density storage of data cartridges. The storage rack system includes high density center racks having storage capability on opposing sides of the racks. Movable racks having upper rollers recessed below the plane of the upper surface of the movable racks and lower rollers are mounted on the system on both sides of the center racks. The movable racks allow access to at least one column of tape cartridge holders supported on the center racks. Brake members are resiliently mounted on the lower surfaces of the outer movable racks enabling the movable members to come to a complete stop without excessive jarring of the racks or tape cartridge holders.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1993Date of Patent: November 30, 1993Assignee: Engineered Data Products, Inc.Inventors: Macy J. Price, Jr., Laurence G. Ball, Andrew W. Wildhaber

Patent number: 5080231Abstract: A holder for tape cartridges having a plastic housing divided by a partition to form an upper section and a lower section each of which has a plurality of compartments integrally formed therein so that a tape cartridge may be positioned in each of the compartments and be supported on a bottom support surface and separate resilient force applying structures are secured to the housing and located between an upper surface of the compartment and the upper surface of the tape cartridge to apply a resilient force against the tape cartridge to urge the tape cartridge against the bottom support surface to retain the tape cartridge in the compartment and wherein abutment surfaces on the upper and lower sections cooperate with abutment surfaces on the resilient force applying structures to retain the resilient force applying structures in proper position. Also, the compartments are formed by specially shaped partitions to facilitate entry of the tape cartridges therein.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1990Date of Patent: January 14, 1992Assignee: Engineered Data Products, Inc.Inventors: Macy J. Patent number: 4846355Abstract: An integrally molded plastic holder for tape cartridges is provided wherein the holder is partitioned into an upper section and a lower section by two spaced apart ledges integrally formed therewith and wherein the upper and lower sections have a plurality of compartments dimensioned to receive a tape cartridge and wherein a plurality of resiliently tab portions are mounted between the upper and lower ledges so that a portion of each tab portion is located in a recess in a tape cartridge when the tape cartridge has been inserted into one of the compartments to restrain the removal of the tape cartridge from the compartment. The tab portions are mounted so that, when the tab portions are in the recesses, they are in an unstressed condition.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1988Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Engineered Data Products, Inc.Inventors: Macy J. Price, Sr., Macy J. Price, Jr., Laurence G. Ball

Patent number: 4844564Abstract: A holder for tape cartridges having a housing divided by a partition to form an upper section and a lower section each of which has a plurality of compartments integrally formed therewith from a relatively rigid plastic material so that a tape cartridge may be positioned in each of the compartments and separate resilient force applying structures, integrally formed from a plastic material more rigid than the plastic material in the housing, and secured to the housing so as to apply a resilient force against the tape cartridge in a compartment to urge the tape cartridge against portions of the housing to hold the tape cartridge in the compartment.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1988Date of Patent: July 4, 1989Assignee: Engineered Data Products, Inc.Inventors: Macy J. Price, Sr., Macy J. Price, Jr., Laurence G. Ball

Patent number: 4782958Abstract: A tape cartridge storage unit is provided so that two or four tape cartridge storage holders may be retained in a side by side relationship on a plurality of vertically spaced shelves. Each shelf has a width substantially equal to the combined width of two or four tape cartridge storage holders and the distance between adjacent shelves is substantially equal to the height of the tape cartridge storage holder so that a maximum number of tape cartridges may be stored in a minimum space. The unit is an all steel welded construction.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1987Date of Patent: November 8, 1988Assignee: Engineered Data Products, Inc.Inventors: Macy J. Price, Laurence G. Ball

Patent number: 4718739Abstract: A system for supporting documents such as multi-leaf computer print-out documents is presented and uses a holder having a main support member having a pair of support posts for supporting documents and a closure member pivotally mounted on the main support member for movement between an open position wherein documents can be mounted on or removed from the support posts and an intermediate position having a portion superposed over the support posts. The closure member can be moved in a linear direction from the intermediate position to a fully closed position in which the main support member and the closure member are locked together. Guiding forces control the linear movement of the closure member and frictional forces function to hold the main support member and the closure member in the fully closed position.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1986Date of Patent: January 12, 1988Assignee: Engineered Data Products, Inc.Inventors: Macy J.
