  • Publication number: 20150083666
Abstract: Described are water-on-water valves for use in reverse osmosis filtration systems. The water-on-water valves are regulated by the pressure in a product line, which contains fluid from a product line of the filter module and/or the product side of a water-on-water storage tank. Exemplary valves are shuttle valves that are regulated by the pressure downstream of the product side of a reverse osmosis filter module. The valves may comprise a piston within a housing, and an end of the piston may have an enlarged diameter relative to the maximum diameter of the remainder of the piston. The body of the piston may have sections of differing diameters, where the smaller diameter sections form flow channels, or the body may a diameter that is substantially the same along its length in conjunction with gratings and flow channels.

  • Patent number: 8424707
Abstract: A liquid storage tank assembly includes a baffle member and a tank assembly. The baffle member includes a generally helical or spiral shaped portion. The baffle member defines a spiral flow path between inlet and outlet openings of the tank assembly. When the baffle member is positioned within the tank and the tank assembly holds a volume of a first liquid, input of a supply of a second liquid at the inlet to the tank assembly forces the first liquid along the spiral flow path and out of the tank assembly exit without substantial mixing of the first and second liquids before substantially all of the first liquid has been dispensed.

  • Patent number: 8246883
Abstract: A filter cartridge includes a one-piece housing having a port and a filtration element disposed in the housing. The filtration element is a coherent filter block that can be larger in cross dimension than the port. The filtration element can be a coherent filter block that generally conforms to the shape of the hollow interior, but is slightly smaller than the hollow interior so as to define a gap between the filtration element and the inner surface. One method for constructing a filter cartridge includes providing a housing having a hollow interior and at least one port, introducing a granular material into the hollow interior via the port, and transforming the granular material in the hollow material into a coherent filter block. Another method for constructing a filter cartridge includes providing a filtration element in the form of a coherent filter block, and overmolding a housing around the filtration element.
