Publication number: 20240009666Abstract: A flow apparatus for measuring at least one biophysical property of one or more components is provided. The apparatus comprises one or more microfluidic devices. Each microfluidic device comprises: a sample channel having a sample inlet port for introducing a sample fluid flow comprising one or more components at a first flow rate into an elongate distribution channel, an auxiliary channel having an auxiliary inlet port for introducing an auxiliary fluid flow at a second flow rate into the elongate distribution channel. The distribution channel is configured to enable a lateral distribution of the components from the sample fluid flow into the auxiliary fluid flow. Each microfluidic device further comprises two or more capillary channels provided downstream and in fluid communication with the distribution channel, at least one outlet port provided downstream of each of the capillary channels.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2021Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: Fluidic Analytics LimitedInventors: Ashish Asthana, Jean-Paul Delport, Sean Devenish, Anthony Douglas, Hannah Kenyon, Maren Butz, Viola Denninger, Simon Morling, Thomas Mueller, Laurence Young, Simon Chandler

Patent number: 8418354Abstract: An apparatus (1) for frame fabrication includes at least one nail gun (15) adapted to fire nails substantially in a selected plane of the frame (2). The nail gun (15) translates vertically and is configured with a control input device (19) activated by an operator which extends substantially across the width of the frame fabrication apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2006Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Paslode New ZealandInventor: Graeme Laurence Young

Publication number: 20090265839Abstract: A fluid safety liner includes a liner of closed-cell foam that uses a series of channels and reservoirs to spread forces and distribute fluid contained within the liner throughout different areas of the liner. The liner is useable in protective gear such as a helmet and has a shape that conforms to the area of protection. The channel and reservoir system generally includes a mesh of coupled channels and reservoirs in the closed-cell foam. The channel and reservoir system also generally includes an incompressible fluid movable throughout the system for redistributing pressure and absorbing the force of any impact through viscous flow. The reduction in peak force and lengthening of the duration of the force reduces the biomechanical severity (e.g. HIC, Head Injury Criterion) of a blow to the protective gear.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2007Publication date: October 29, 2009Applicant: MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGYInventors: Laurence Young, Nicholas Chan, Jason Ruchelsman

Publication number: 20080251563Abstract: An apparatus for frame fabrication includes at least one nail gun adapted to fire nails substantially in a selected plane of the frame and a sensor and a corresponding interlock. The sensor is mounted on the at least one nail gun and the sensor and corresponding interlock is adapted to provide a sensor signal, detect the presence or absence of a return sensor signal, and prevent firing of nails from the at least one nail gun in response to the presence or absence of the return sensor signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2006Publication date: October 16, 2008Applicant: PASLODE NEW ZEALANDInventor: Graeme Laurence Young
