  • Patent number: 7556201
Abstract: A device for scanning and/or recognizing one or more barcodes includes a laser light source for transmitting laser light; a rotatable polygonal mirror for reflecting the transmitted laser light; a number of fixedly disposed flat mirrors for reflecting laser light; a pick-up element for picking up laser light scattered by a barcode; a compact housing in which the laser light source, the polygonal mirror, the flat mirrors and the pick-up element are arranged, which compact housing is constructed from a substantially flat bottom side, a top side and standing walls arranged therebetween and wherein the distance between the standing walls ranges between 1.2-5.5 inches (3-14 cm).

  • Patent number: 6681993
Abstract: The present invention comprises a device for reading a code on an article, comprising: a housing provided with at least two windows for passage of radiation which are disposed at a relative mutual angle; radiation source means for transmitting radiation to the article, which radiation source means are arranged in the housing and comprise at least two separate radiation sources; a rotatable polygonal mirror for reflecting radiation coming from the radiation source means; a number of fixedly disposed mirrors for reflecting through the respective windows the radiation coming from the polygonal mirror; and detection means for detecting the radiation scattered by the code.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 11, 2000
Date of Patent: January 27, 2004
    Assignee: Scantech-ID Holding B.V.
Inventors: Laurentius Wilhelmus Nunnink, Cornelis Reinier Johannes Schonenberg
  • Patent number: 6376855
Abstract: A horizontal scanning device capable of scanning a bar code label on an underside or on a standing side wall of an article is revealed. The device is made of a source of laser light; a rotatably drivable polygonal mirror with mirror surfaces for distributing in scan lines the laser light transmitted by the laser source; a number of fixedly disposed mirrors for reflecting through a window the laser light beam distributed by the polygonal mirror, wherein the polygonal mirror has at least one mirror surface in co-action with a fixedly disposed mirror and at least one laser light beam is directed through the window at the article, which line extends for at least a moment substantially vertically to that window and the projection of which onto the article moves substantially in the plane perpendicular to that window and through that vertical line; and a detector for receiving light scattered by the code.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 11, 1999
Date of Patent: April 23, 2002
    Assignee: Scantech, B.V.

  • Patent number: 5979767
Abstract: An apparatus for scanning bar code on an article comprises a housing with a window; a laser light source for transmitting a laser beam which is disposed in the housing; a first mirror fixedly disposed in the housing for reflecting the laser light beam; a member mounted in the housing for rotatable driving and provided with second rotatable mirror; and a detector for receiving the laser light coming from the bar code reflected by the fixed mirror and the rotatable mirror and admitted via the window. The fixed and rotatable mirrors are disposed such that a pattern of a comparatively large number of relatively short scan lines partly overlapping each other is created as seen on the window.
