  • Patent number: 6409229
Abstract: The invention relates to a joint assembly for connecting together fiberglass cylindrical pipe and duct sections up to about one hundred and twenry inches in diameter. An internal tubular slip collar fits into opposing sections joining the sectionend to end. An external tubular slip collar is mounted over the joined sections encircling their exterior surfaces. A non-volatile epoxy adhesive secures the mating surfaces forming a double adhesive sealed and three level joint.

  • Patent number: 5909904
Abstract: The invention relates to a flange joint assembly for connecting together cylindrical duct sections. A tubular slip collar fits within opposing sections which engage an exterior projecting bead encircling the exterior of the slip collar. Opposing flange clamps are mounted on the ducts having leaf elements pressing against the duct surfaces. Opposing band clamps are mounted around the leaf elements securing the leaf elements to the duct surfaces. Opposing V-band ring locking devices encircle the flange clamps. In the alternative, Van-Stone flange rings secure the flange clamps together by means of locking bolts.

  • Patent number: 5634847
Abstract: Fiberglass reinforced plastic fume exhaust systems include duct walls having apertures therein covered with meltable thermoplastic resins mounted thereon which melt and open up the apertures when exposed to high temperatures thereby admitting ambient air therein to reduce the temperature downstream of the systems and reduce the suction pressure at source of the high temperatures.

  • Patent number: 5505497
Abstract: A mechanical coupling device for connecting together two aligned fiberglass reinforced plastic duct sections, each having a terminal end portion of equal diameter, so as to form a leak proof joint that is resistant to fire and also chemical corrosion from gases and/or condensate within the duct sections is disclosed. The device comprises elements that cover and seal the terminal end portion of each said duct section; a central gasket member that covers the end elements and extends around the terminal end portions of the duct sections; a flexible metal sleeve member that surrounds the central gasket member; and tightening devices on the sleeve which compress the central gasket member and hold the aligned adjoining duct sections together to provide a leak-proof joint. The tightening devices are spring driven so that if the bulk of the gasket member is reduced due to fire, the sleeve will maintain a firm non-slip hold on the duct joint.

  • Patent number: 4107127
Abstract: A resinous product has high resistance to flame spread, low heat release, and exhibits a low smoke-developed rating when exposed to flame or to indirect or radiant heat, and is flexible, tough, free of hydraulic cement, and resistant to cracking and embrittlement upon curing. Such a product is the condensation product of resorcinol with or without included phenol, and a minor amount of paraformaldehyde and aqueous formaldehyde solution. The resorcinol starting material of this invention can also suitably be used in the form of a B-stage or partially cured resin of resorcinol-phenol-formaldehyde which is then condensed with the paraformaldehyde and, if necessary, additional formaldehyde. The product is useful as a cast material or as laminated with fiberglass or can contain fillers or the like. A method of making the product and articles is provided.

Such a product is the condensation product of resorcinol with or without included phenol, and an admixture of paraformaldehyde and furfural or furfuryl alcohol or both. The resorcinol starting material of this invention can also suitably be used in the form of a B-stage or partially cured resin of resorcinol-phenol-formaldehyde which is then condensed with the aforesaid aldehydes or such aldehyde substance and furfuryl alcohol. The product is useful in making castings or moldings which are resistant to embrittlement or cracking upon curing, and in making tough fiberglass parts, and it can contain fillers or the like. A method of making the product and articles is provided.
