Patent number: 9976704Abstract: A pressure relief valve including a housing having an inlet and a relief outlet connected by a fluid flow passageway, the inlet fluidly connectable to a work string. The pressure relief valve includes a head sealingly disposed within the passageway between the inlet and relief outlet closing the fluid flow passageway between the inlet and relief outlet. An elongate buckling rod supports the head and is bucklable at a predetermined load thereby permitting sliding of the head from between the inlet and a relief outlet and opening the fluid flow passageway. A projection within the housing is extendible to an extended configuration, wherein in the extended configuration the projection applies a lateral force perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the buckling rod bending the rod from its axial center thereby decreasing the load at which the buckling rod collapses.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2014Date of Patent: May 22, 2018Assignee: HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC.Inventor: Lawrence A. Herndon

Patent number: 9933075Abstract: A sealing system for a well valve includes a valve closure, a valve closure carrier, and seal elements. The valve closure includes a central bore. The valve closure carrier includes an annular, metal sealing surface in contact with the exterior of the valve closure to form a metal-to-metal seal with the valve closure. The valve closure carrier defines two flow holes, each of which communicates with the central bore when the valve closure is open to flow fluid, and is sealed from the central bore by the sealing surface when the valve closure is closed. The first seal element seals between the valve closure carrier and the valve closure, and surrounds the first flow hole. The second seal element seals between the valve closure carrier and the valve closure, and surrounds the first seal element and an end opening of the central bore when the valve closure is closed.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2013Date of Patent: April 3, 2018Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Joseph A. Beisel, Lawrence A. Herndon

Publication number: 20160202388Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking use and status of “discharge manifold equipment (DME)” are disclosed comprising associating a unique identifier to at least one DME, associating a pumping unit identifier to a pumping unit, pumping fluid through the DME, sending the unique identifier associated with the at least one DME and job information associated with the pumping unit to a central database. The central database may compute corrosion and erosion calculations associated with the at least one DME and send the calculations, job information, and/or installation information to a remote device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2013Publication date: July 14, 2016Inventors: Lawrence A. Patent number: 8657547Abstract: The present disclosure provides a wing nut including an arcuate body, an arcuate insert, a retaining ring, and a support member. The arcuate body defines a first portion of a mounting thread and the arcuate insert defines a second portion of a mounting thread. The arcuate insert and the arcuate body are complementary to one another such that when connected, the arcuate insert and the arcuate body define an upper ring and a collar and the first and second portions of the mounting thread define a complete mounting thread for receiving a threaded male pipe end. The retaining ring is for securing the collar, and the support member is for securing the upper ring. The wing nut is designed to replace an existing wing nut on a hammer union connection that has deformed lugs. The wing nut can be safely replaced in the field without any special equipment or training.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2012Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventor: Lawrence A.
