  • Patent number: 11186061
Abstract: A composite article is provided for use as a heat spreader, a cooling element or as part of the heating system for a wide variety of items. The composite article can include at least one sheet of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite or graphiiized polymer. A protective coating may be aligned or adhered with a surface of the sheet. The article may also include at least one of a fiber reinforced polymer, a fiber weave or fiber mat or combinations thereof, aligned with at least one of the first surface of the sheet or a second surface of the sheet. The composite article can include a plurality of strips of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite, of graphiiized polymer or combinations thereof, which are woven together and/or it can Include cut outs, slits or other perforations to provide flexibility, stretehabi Kiy, and breathability.

  • Publication number: 20160013497
Abstract: An electrode for a flow battery includes a carbonized felt having a bulk density of from between about 0.05 g/cc and about 0.2 g/cc and a dry weight and an equilibrium weight after submersion in an electrolyte. The carbon felt receives a treatment that enables an equilibrium weight at least 20 times the dry weight.

  • Patent number: 7241409
Abstract: A process for preparing a gas permeable flexible graphite sheet is presented. The process includes providing graphite flakes; admixing the graphite flakes with a sacrificial additive to form a graphite mixture; compressing the graphite mixture into a sheet having sacrificial additive dispersed therethrough; and treating the sheet to at least partially remove the sacrificial additive to form a permeable flexible graphite sheet.

  • Publication number: 20040025476
Abstract: An in-line, continuously operating stand-up pouch forming, filling and sealing apparatus and process contemplates a continuously moving web and pouch train operating at rates in excess of 150 pouches or 500 to 600 web inches per minute, and at to at least about 1500 pouches or 4000 web inches per minute. Seal facilitating holes are continuously punched in a continuously moving web and side seams are formed by continuously sealing a continuous web. The stand-up pouches are positively opened by a continuous Coanda-Effect application or alternately by a combined vacuum/mechanical operation. Stand-up pouches are continuously formed, filled and sealed without intermittent web stops for web or pouch operations.
