  • Patent number: 4551049
Abstract: Three flatbed trailer trucks are provided with subway wheel and axle assembly receiving racks. The racks include parts fastened at locations spaced to receive the wheel flanges therebetween. Each part includes upstanding elements cooperating to form a semicircular recess to receive a wheel and a rigidity enhancing member extending perpendicular to the plane of the elements. The driver transports an unloaded trailer from the yard to a first location where the assemblies are removed from the train. The driver picks up a loaded trailer, previously situated at that location, which is transported to the repair location. At the repair location, he/she picks up a trailer previously situated at the repair location, which is loaded with repaired assemblies and returns to the first location where the truck is unloaded and the repair wheels are reinstalled. He/she then returns to the yard with an unloaded trailer which is ready for the next day's route.

  • Patent number: 4126241
Abstract: The receptacle includes a housing adapted to receive rubbish or the like with opposite walls each having an opening through which rubbish may be inserted into the housing. Doors are articulately mounted on each side of the housing and each is independently movable between a vertical position substantially closing the opening and a second position exposing the opening. An element is mounted on each door and extends therefrom into the housing. The element is so positioned with respect to the door and the housing such that when the door is in the second position, the element engages the housing and prevents further inward movement of the door beyond the second position. The element also biases the door towards the closed position, regardless of the position of the door, thereby tending to keep the door closed when rubbish is not being inserted. Cooperating positive stop means on each door and the housing, respectively, are effective to prevent the door from swinging outwardly of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4046271
Abstract: A method for collecting, handling and disposing of trash from a collection site, such as a railroad station, to a disposal site, utilizes a receptacle which includes a housing permanently situated at the collection site. The housing receives a coverable container therein and trash is deposited through a self-closing door at the top of the housing and received within the container. The container is admitted into and withdrawn from the housing through an openable sidewall of the housing. Once filled, the container is extracted from the housing, covered and moved to a designated platform area. A train, designed for this purpose, arrives with empty containers, which are unloaded, and receives the full containers. The train moves to a transfer point wherein the containers are removed and emptied into a collection vehicle to be hauled to a disposal site.
