  • Patent number: 6055374
Abstract: A foldable camera having a base housing containing a self-developing film unit, and an upper housing including an objective lens. The housings extend generally parallel to each other, and in the folded inoperative position, the upper housing overlies and engages the lower housing forming a compact unit. In moving between the folded and unfolded positions, the upper housing moves through planes generally parallel to the base housing, such action being provided by a linkage. A foldable flash unit is movable between a folded inoperative position extending over the upper housing and covering the objective lens, and an unfolded position projecting above the upper housing to expose a flash.

  • Patent number: 5946502
Abstract: A self-developing camera is disclosed which comprises a housing assembly including a film exit opening. Provision is made for an objective lens assembly mounted on the housing assembly and which defines an optical axis for optically capturing images of a scene and directing the images to a focal plane. A mirror in the housing assembly redirects the scene light from the objective lens assembly to a film unit of the self-developing type adjacent the focal plane. The mirror is in an operative orientation generally below the optical axis when the camera is held in a generally horizontal image capture mode.

  • Patent number: 5946031
Abstract: A photographic apparatus combines an image capturing apparatus with an image rendering apparatus, where the image capturing apparatus operates as an electronic camera and has an integral liquid crystal display panel for viewing acquired images prior to printing the images onto a photosensitive medium. The images are individually selectable to adjust image properties prior to transmittal of the image to a high-resolution liquid-crystal display in the image rendering apparatus. The image rendering apparatus produces an image on the photosensitive medium by projecting illumination through the image present in the high-resolution liquid-crystal display, through a copy lens, and onto the medium.

  • Patent number: 5107289
Abstract: A foldable camera having a reflex mirror for redirecting image bearing light rays from the camera's lens to a film unit located in a cassette. An upper and lower housing interconnected by a flexible bellows are pivotally connected to one another for movement between a folded inoperative position and an erected operable position. When the upper housing is erected, the reflex mirror is simultaneously pivoted about an axis which is neither perpendicular to or parallel with the optical axis of the lens so as to dispose the mirror in an erected position permitting the camera to assume a low profile in the fully erected operable position.

  • Patent number: 5027142
Abstract: A camera including a plurality of housings pivotally coupled to each other for movement from a collapsed compact position in which a subject may be framed in a viewfinder of the camera, to an erected position during which an exposure of the subject may be made, and then returned to their original collapsed position. The movement of the housings from the collapsed to the erected and then back to the collapsed position is in response to the actuation of the camera's shutter release.

  • Patent number: 5023636
Abstract: A camera for use with instant film includes a spread roller assembly including superposed rollers for spreading a processing liquid between predetermined layers of an exposed film unit to initiate the formation of a visible image therein while simultaneously advancing the film unit to the exterior of the camera. The spread roller assembly is pivotally coupled to a housing of the camera for movement between its operative spreading position and an inoperative position wherein the spread rollers are more easily accessible for maintenance procedures, the movement being in response to the manual movement of a light shield into an inoperative position.

  • Patent number: 5001502
Abstract: A folding camera of the self-developing type having a housing containing a film cassette, the housing being movable into and out of an erected picture taking position in which an end of the film cassette is exposed to ambient light. A shade having a laterally extending opening therein dimensioned to permit the passage therethrough of a film unit is mounted on the housing for movement between a first position, wherein the opening is in alignment with a film exit slot in the film cassette when the housing is in a collapsed position, and a second position wherein the shade prevents entry of ambient light into the film cassette via its slot when the housing is moving into and out of an erected position.

  • Patent number: 4827297
Abstract: A film assemblage includes a plurality of self-developing film units mounted in a cassette having first and second sections. The first section has an aperture for the exposure of the film units mounted within the cassette. Each film unit includes a flat body position joined to a rupturable pod or container of processing liquid. A support member located in the second section supports the flat portions of the film units to properly orient one of them adjacent to the film exposure aperture. A resilient, upwardly biased extension on said support member engages only the processing liquid container of an adjacent film unit to gently urge it and containers located about it into proper location relative to an exit slot in the cassette.

  • Patent number: 4814801
Abstract: A self-developing or instant camera of the type which receives a collapsible cassette containing a plurality of film units arranged in stacked relationship. Transporting means is provided for moving successive exposed film units from the cassette and transporting each of them to a storage chamber beneath the collapsible cassette. During transportation from an exposure position to the storage chamber, each film unit is processed to initiate the formation of a visible image. Springs beneath the cassette bias a lower section of the cassette upwardly relative to an upper section as the successive exposed film units are removed from the cassette and moved beneath the cassette thereby preventing an increased spring pressure on the stack of exposed film units and utilizing the volume gained by the collapsing cassette to accomodate the stack of exposed film units.

  • Patent number: 4545663
Abstract: An integral, self-developing film unit and processor in which all structural components of the film unit apart from a rupturable pod of processing fluid are provided by two superposed rectangular sheets of plastic material. The sheets sandwich one or more layers of photochemical composition, support the processing fluid pod at the leading edge thereof and define at the trailing edge of the unit, a trap for receiving residual processing fluid. The trap is provided by a flap at the end of one of the two sheets folded over the trailing edge of the other sheet. The absence of edge rails to establish the thickness of processing fluid spread into contact with the photochemicals between the sheets is accounted for by a controlled spacing gap at the pressure nip through which the unit is advanced for processing after exposure.

  • Patent number: 4461556
Abstract: A processing apparatus, for use with a self-processing film unit of the type including a sheet-like photosensitive film component and a low viscosity processing liquid applicator, is configured to apply a longitudinally directed compression force to the film unit causing a flat leader tab forming section thereon to fold and form a protruding leader tab. The tab is fed into a pair of rollers on the apparatus which advance the film unit therebetween to progressively apply a force, preferably having both a tension component and compression component, to the leader tab and then to following portions of the film unit for manipulating an initially folded and releasably sealed enclosure section of the applicator to bring a processing liquid soaked pad therein into liquid yielding contact with an outer surface of the film component.
