  • Patent number: 5098168
Abstract: A waterproof hub and spindle assembly for boat trailers is provided with an oil lubricating chamber that is connected to an air chamber open on the bottom and adapted to trap air therein as the hub and spindle assembly is submerged. The air in the chamber is compressed as submersion increases which pressurizes the lubricating chamber to prevent contaminants from entering into the bearing structure.

  • Patent number: 4997332
Abstract: A boat trailer which is characterized by laterally spaced longitudinally extending booms or side frame members and cross members which are supported from the side frame members at their ends on axially aligned pivots. The cross members laterally space the booms and have provision for selectively mounting thereon either pairs of transversely spaced longitudinally extending bars which carry assemblies of boat hull engaging members mounted thereon so as to pivot on longitudinally extending axes, or vertically extendable posts with the longitudinal bars and associated boat hull engaging members mounted thereon in elevated relation above the side frame members. The boat trailer eliminates the necessity of rigid cross frame members structurally interconnecting the side frame members, or booms, and enables the trailer structure to be readily adapted to carry either shallow draft, shoal draft, or deep keel boats having various hull configurations.

  • Patent number: 4781515
Abstract: There is provided a pivotally mounted hull-engaging roller system for a roller trailer for facilitating loading and unloading a boat and assuring efficient support of a boat loaded thereon. The pivotal mounting permits the hull contacting elements or rollers to tilt inwardly without the need for any particular tilting capability. The hull-engaging rollers of the invention are supported on the trailer crossbars by an improved bracket having the capability of effectively supporting the crossbars for pivotal movement relative to the trailer side booms. The improved roller mounting structure disclosed herein accommodates a variety of various designed craft hulls.

  • Patent number: 4717165
Abstract: A boat trailer having the parallel boat supporting portions of the trailer frame free of any fixed cross frame members rigidly connected to the trailer side booms. The parallel spacing between this portion of the trailer frame is effected by a downwardly curved cross bar member pivotally connected at each end to the trailer side frames. The ends of the pivotally connected cross bar are supported from the trailer side frames in a manner which eliminates the necessity of any side frame-to-cross bar mounting bracketry, thereby improving the aesthetic appearance of the trailer and simulating a welded connection.

  • Patent number: 4611948
Abstract: A boat trailer having at least one pivotally mounted crossbar member facilitating loading and unloading a trailer and assuring efficient support of a boat loaded thereon. The crossbar member of the invention is provided with a dropped or curved configuration which supports the hull of a boat at a lowermost position for stability and for effective loading and unloading. The pivotal mounting and curved form of the crossbar member not only maintains the keel or hull as low as possible but naturally permits the hull contacting elements to tilt inwardly without the need for any particular tilting capability. The crossbar member is supported on the trailer booms by an improved bracket having the capability of effectively supporting the crossbar member for pivotal movement.

  • Patent number: 4281367
Abstract: A submersible lamp having a housing and a lens with a bulb carried therein in optical alignment with the lens. A pair of terminal connections are provided for electrically coupling the bulb to a source of illuminating energy. The housing forms an open air chamber to define a volume of air such that upon submersion of the housing in water, the air is compressed to create a force sufficient to prevent the water from rising within the housing above a pre-determined level into contact with the bulb and terminal connections.

  • Patent number: 4278388
Abstract: A support assembly for support of a boat on a trailer including a support arm pivotally mounted to the trailer at a lower end and carrying one or more boat hull contacting elements at its upper end. The pivotal movement of the support arm permits the boat hull contacting elements to move laterally toward and away from the longitudinal centerline of the trailer to increase the efficiency of transport, storing, loading and unloading of a boat trailer.

  • Patent number: 4210235
Abstract: A roller structure adapted for supporting a boat on a trailer bed, or the like, which has a cushioned roller surface for engaging the boat hull to distribute the weight stress over a substantial area, and a mounting for the roller on the support bed to guide and support the boat as it is pulled across the rollers with minimum risk of damage to the hull.

  • Patent number: 4196502
Abstract: A roller structure for supporting a boat on a trailer bed and having a pair of annular hubs in the form of a funnel-like insert member to mount the roller. Each insert member has an inner shaft engaging section and an outer roller engaging sections whereby the sections are axially offset from one another relative to the axis of rotation of the roller. The pair of insert members are snugged against the roller for support thereof in either of two alternative mirror image configurations. In one configuration the inner section pof the insert members are spaced apart and are remote of one another and the roller provides for generally non-gimbaling rotation on a supporting shaft. In the other configuration the inner sections are adjacent and substantially in abutment, and the roller achieves a gimbaling rotation on the shaft.
