Abstract: A method of remotely installing or removing and assembling and disassembling nozzle dams (10) from outside a steam generator manway (14) using a tool set. The tools are a bifurcated segment lifting (torquing and push-pull) tool 60 to unweight and faciltate the operation of sliding dam segments (30,32) edgewise along sliding brackets (40) and bars (44) in an assembly and disassembly operation; a cam-lock component (36) operating T-shaped tool (80) with a nozzle dam rib avoiding offset (88), transverse quick-connect body (50b) straddling tool (90) pull a sleeve (50c) in order to disassembly quick-connects; and, a gasket installing, tensioning and removing hook tool (102).

Abstract: A nuclear steam generator isolation dam (28) locking pin (36) is slidably mounted and spring (52) biased in an axial bore (42,44) of a body (40) press fit in a dam boss (32). The pin (36) is actuated by a lever (54) in a slot (54,58,62) for selective lock-in, lock-out and spring biased travel for seeking its keeper (27) in the wall (26) of the nozzle.

Abstract: A bolt and keeper secure nuclear steam generation isolation dam segments in assembled relation. The bolt is rotated into locked position with its handle in a slot as a transverse projection on the bolt end is moved along a ramp into a securing notch against the bias of a compressible rubber spring.

Abstract: A nozzle plug (22) for blocking a nozzle (46) in a nuclear steam generator (16) is improved by the addition of hinges (40a, 40b) which allow the nozzle plug (22) to be inserted into the steam generator (16) through an access port (52) of substantially smaller diameter than the nozzle (46). A recess (54) is provided in one of the semi-circular plates (28) allowing the plates to nest, further reducing the necessary size of the access port (46).
