  • Patent number: 8611813
Abstract: The instant application describes a method that includes steps of receiving, at a mobile device, an identification signal from a repeater informing the mobile device of a presence of the repeater within a proximity of the mobile device and sending, from the mobile device, an inquiry request to the repeater requesting information associated with capabilities of the repeater identified in the identification signal. The method also includes steps of receiving, at the mobile device, the requested information from the repeater; determining, based on the received information, whether to use the repeater for communication between the mobile device and a mobile communication network; and controlling the repeater based on the determination result.

  • Patent number: 8526379
Abstract: To ameliorate interference between an indoor wireless pico cell system, for example in an aircraft, and public wireless communications systems operating in a surrounding or over-flown area, frequencies of operation of the indoor system are coordinated with those used by the public wireless systems in the surrounding area. The pico cell system operates one type of service on all or a portion of a band used for a different type of service by the public system. In the aircraft example, a pico cell system might support GSM narrowband service and CDMA broadband service. The airborne GSM operations use a portion, e.g. corresponding to a guard band, of CDMA service spectrum in the terrestrial network. The airborne CDMA service uses a band used for GSM service by the terrestrial network. The pico cell system dynamically changes its frequency band(s), as the aircraft flies over different areas.

  • Patent number: 8511213
Abstract: A hand-held portable tool to remove primers from spent firearm cartridges, comprising a depriming rod, a lever, and a handle. Compression of the lever with hand pressure while a cartridge is mounted on the depriming rod and is trapped inside the handle pushes the primer out of the cartridge without the use or need of any type of springs, dies or shell holders for various calibers.

  • Publication number: 20120284784
Abstract: Security is provided in a wireless communication system in a moving vehicle by requiring user input of one or more security codes for validation before the system permits communication. One code, a security access code, corresponds to the vehicle travel segment and is given to the passenger(s) in transit. The second type of code, a personal identification number (PIN), is given to the passenger after baggage check-in. The PIN code is correlated to the passenger and/or seat assignment. PIN use enables associated data systems to report the seat number or location of all parties engaging in wireless communications within the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8244209
Abstract: Security is provided in a wireless communication system in a moving vehicle, e.g. an aircraft, by requiring user input of one or more security codes for validation before the system permits communication. One code, a security access code (SAC), corresponds to the vehicle travel segment (e.g. flight) and is given to the passenger(s) in transit, e.g. after the aircraft reaches a particular altitude. The second type of possible code, a personal identification number (PIN), is given to the passenger after baggage check-in. The PIN code would be correlated to the passenger and/or seat assignment. The use of either or both codes helps prohibit connectivity for mobile phone handsets or other wireless devices stored in the cargo bay or in other baggage. PIN use enables associated data systems to report the seat number or location of all parties engaging in wireless communications within the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8175577
Abstract: A security zone monitoring system in cooperation with a wireless communication system may control access to the wireless communication system by mobile communication devices while near or within a security zone. The wireless communication system may include a security communication system which may receive communications from the security zone monitoring system indicating the identity of each mobile communication device which has been detected and whether the mobile communication device is near or within the security zone. The wireless communication system may include a security information processing system which may disrupt access to the wireless communication system by each mobile communication device in ways which differ depending on whether a communication from the security zone monitoring system indicates that the mobile communication device is near or within the security zone.
