  • Patent number: 8433354
Abstract: The present invention relates to reporting cell measurement results associated with a plurality of cells of a cellular communication system. The reporting is transmitted from a station via a radio interface to receiver element of a cell serving the station. The cells are arranged in a reporting order that is to be used by the station for the reporting. The cell measurements are performed by the transceiver station for getting cell measurement results associated with a number of the cells. • Patent number: 7096031
Abstract: A mobile communication system includes a mobile services switching center, a base station and a transcoder. The transcoder receives frames containing speech parameters from the base station and receives speech signals from the mobile services switching center which it encodes into speech parameters to be transmitted to the base station in the frames. To enable the cooperation between the transcoder and the base station to be controlled as simply as possible, the mobile communication system includes a controller for transmitting predetermined control information to the base station, whereby the base station is arranged to control the operation of the transcoder via the telecommunication connection in response to the reception of the control information.

  • Patent number: 6819923
Abstract: The invention is related to signaling in cellular telecommunication systems, namely to reduction of resources used by signaling. According to the invention, a list of neighbor cell information is communicated to a mobile station in compressed form. Preferably, the neighbor cell information list is transmitted in such a way, that a table reciting parameter values in use by the neighboring cells, and for each of these cells, each value listed in the table is represented by a pointer such as an index to the table. In this way, same parameter values do not need to be repeated for each cell using the same values. The neighbor cell information list can be further compressed by expressing a first frequency parameter value in the normal way, but expressing further frequency parameter values relative to the first, or as in a further embodiment, relative to the previous frequency parameter value. Such ways of representing frequency values allow the use of fewer bits to represent the frequency values.

  • Patent number: 6741858
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of changing a telecommunication channel in a mobile communication system for a given mobile station, which mobile station has a connection in progress, and the connection is provided with a channel on a radio connection between the mobile station and base station system and a telecommunication channel between the base station system and a mobile services switching center. In order to facilitate the changing of the telecommunication channel the method includes putting a new telecommunication channel between the mobile services switching center and the base station system, indicated by the handover message into use for the connection, and connecting the channel used to the new telecommunication channel in such a way that the radio channel remains unchanged irrespective of the change of the telecommunication channel.

  • Patent number: 6061566
Abstract: A mobile communication system and a call control method for the mobile communication system allowing calls to be established between mobile stations located in an area of a same base station system. Uplink transmission frames are transmitted from a first base station communicating with one of a calling and a called mobile station to a second base station communicating with another of the calling and the called mobile station via the same base station system. The mobile communication system and the call control method for the mobile communication system also allow calls to be established between mobile stations in an area of two base station systems having a direct network link therebetween. The uplink transmission frames are transmitted from the first base station communicating with one of the calling and the called mobile station to the second base station communicating with another of the calling and the called mobile station via the two base station systems having the direct network link therebetween.
