Abstract: A protective face visor which prevents solid particles, such as wood or metal shavings, from passing through the visor and contacting the wearer's face. The visor is constructed of filaments of wire or plastic. The spacing between the filaments of the mesh, that is the dimension of an opening in the mesh, is somewhat less than the minimum dimension of the particles in one direction across the visor and substantially exceeds the minimum dimension of the particles in at least one other direction across the visor.

Abstract: A pressure ring for an earmuff, an earphone, or the like, wherein the earmuff, or the like, includes a sealing ring which is applied against the head of the wearer around the ears and the pressure ring is behind and applies pressure to the sealing ring at the top, contact surface of the pressure ring. The contact surface is taller above the base surface of the pressure ring at the peripheral outer edge of the pressure ring than at the peripheral inner edge of the pressure ring so that the sealing ring is concave and the surface of the ear cover over the ear is concave. At least the peripheral outer edge of the contact surface varies in height between the taller upper and lower ends of the pressure ring, on the one hand, and the central region of the pressure ring, on the other hand. At least one groove channel wraps at least partially around the pressure ring and extends into the pressure ring from the contact surface.

Abstract: A tongue or other insert part of a securing member for accessories such as ear muffs, is held in place in an attachment slit at the rim of a protective helmet by a substantially wedge-shaped locking adapter provided with barbs or saw-teeth engaging in recesses in the tongue of the securing member. The locking adaptor, together with tongue of the securing member, substantially fills the attachment slit, thus wedging the securing member in position. The barbs or saw-teeth may be formed on the tongue of the securing member and complementary recesses formed in the wedge-shaped adaptor.

Abstract: A holder is provided for securing a microphone or earpiece in position inside a helmet. The holder comprises a plurality of tubular rings of soft flexible material. One ring is adapted to be connected to a shell of the helmet, and the other rings are serially connected by resilient, short, thin, soft segments. The rings are dimensioned and arranged so that they can be nested within each other or pulled out to form an extending holder. A microphone or earpiece may be connected to one of the said rings.

Abstract: A cap arrangement is disclosed for sealing the space between the outer surface of a protective helmet and the upper edge of a pivotally mounted visor carried by the helmet, to prevent, for example, sawdust passing to the space on the inside of the visor during timber sawing operations. The cap arrangement comprises a sheet of fabric having a front edge secured to the upper edge of the visor and a rear edge secured to an elastic ribbon attached at its ends to the mountings which pivotally support the visor at the sides of the helmet.
