  • Patent number: 9821896
Abstract: Propulsion unit (11) for propulsion and maneuvering of a maritime vessel, which includes a nozzle (12) exhibiting a curved following edge (12) at outlet of the nozzle (12), which results in that length of the nozzle (12) is longer in upper part of the nozzle (12) and shortest at the outermost points of a horizontal central axis through the nozzle (12), when the nozzle (12) is seen from behind.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 26, 2013
Date of Patent: November 21, 2017
    Assignee: Rolls-Royce Marine AS

  • Publication number: 20100049332
Abstract: Leg prosthesis including a cylinder with a piston and a piston rod, the piston rod being led out of one end of the cylinder and attached to an outer tube of the prosthesis, with the lower part of the cylinder being attached to an inner tube of the prosthesis. The outer tube and the inner tube may be connected to parts of the leg prosthesis, and the cylinder may contain a pneumatic or hydraulic medium. The inner tube and the outer tube provide a cavity for the arrangement of a torsion device, where the outer tube can rotate in both directions in relation to the inner tube and vice versa. The torsion device includes an elastomer fixed to the outer tube, elastomer supports fixed to the outer tube and an elastomer end stop fixed to the inner tube.

  • Patent number: 7585195
Abstract: A propulsion and steering unit for a waterborne vessel. The propulsion and steering unit is in the form of an azimuth thruster 1 comprising a propeller 2 fixed to one end of a propeller shaft 4, which is rotatable about a longitudinal axis 6. Fixed to the other end of the propeller shaft 4 there is a beveled gear crown wheel 8. The crown wheel 8 is engaged with a driving pinion gear 10 and, in this particular embodiment, the crown wheel 8 is driven in a direction 7 by the driving pinion gear 10. The driving pinion gear 10 is mounted on a vertical drive shaft 12, which is connected to drive means (not shown) for the vessel. A longitudinal axis 18 of the drive shaft 12, about which the drive pinion 8 rotates, is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 6 of the propeller shaft 4 about which the propeller 2 rotates.
