  • Patent number: 10897319
Abstract: An apparatus for testing electromagnetic components includes electromagnetically-isolating external walls that define a chamber. An internal wall is attached to one or more of the electromagnetically-isolating external walls to form an internal test instrument chamber and an internal device testing chamber. An internal RF feed-through port passes through the internal wall to electrically couple a test instrument disposed in the internal test instrument chamber to a wireless device-under-test (DUT) disposed in the internal device testing chamber. One or more external RF feed-through ports can pass through one of the electromagnetically-isolating external walls to electrically couple the DUT and/or the test instrument to a second wireless device.

  • Patent number: 9674793
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling the power of small cells in a coverage area includes obtaining signal strength measurements of wireless signals received from a plurality of small cells in a defined coverage area by identifying signal strength at a plurality of locations near the perimeter of the coverage area, and determining a revised transmit power of the small cells based on the determined signal strength (a) to maintain a minimum threshold of received signal while reducing the average power within the coverage area, or (b) to reduce leakage outside the perimeter of the coverage area relative to a desired threshold.

  • Patent number: 7493124
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided to update information within a first network (103) via a second network (102) when communication no longer exists with the first network. During operation the first network is accessed via a PSTN (108) message that is never answered by the first network. Based on the called number and caller-identification information, the first network updates its system information.

  • Publication number: 20060136123
Abstract: A method and system for providing a closed route for travel features a database having geographic information and input information including a starting point and a desired route length. The geographic information from the database and the input information are processed to define an outbound path from the starting point to a turning point, the turning point determined based on the desired route length, and to define an inbound path from the turning point to the starting point, the outbound path and the inbound path together defining the closed route. A representation of the closed route may be output as a static map, interactive map or a turn-by-turn listing.

  • Publication number: 20060018281
Abstract: A method of reducing tunneling in a wireless packet network. The method includes defining a home access point for a client station, determining that the client station is being serviced by an access point different from the home access point, deciding if the client station should change its home access point to the access point from which the client station receives service and initiating a change of the home access point of the client station, if so decided.

  • Publication number: 20050147056
Abstract: A wireless network device that assigns priorities to communications in a network has a first circuit for receiving wireless messages from remote wireless network devices and a second circuit operable to send wireless messages to the remote wireless network devices. A third circuit makes a determination of the relative priorities of the remote wireless network devices. The wireless network device is operable to form a message to the remote wireless network devices, where the message is used to set a backoff time in the remote wireless network devices. The backoff time sent to the remote wireless network device is related to the relative priority of the remote wireless network device.

  • Publication number: 20050090240
Abstract: A system for wirelessly transmitting time constant data under a wireless protocol is contemplated. A access point device initiates a reservation of time under a protocol. The transmitting device then downloads the time constant data to the remote devices. This can take place as individual transmissions or a single unicast transmission of one block containing all the data for the remote wireless device(s). The access point polls each remote wireless device for constant time data to be sent to the remainder of the network. At the conclusion, the access point gives up the reservation so as to enable the remote wireless devices to use the access point for other forms of data traffic.

  • Patent number: 6671515
Abstract: In a wireless communication system (100) having a plurality of communication cells (115, 117), and a plurality of mobile stations (118) operating within selected ones of the multiple communication cells (115, 117), a method and an apparatus for selecting those communication cells (115, 117). Within each communication cell (115, 117), a base station (112) transmits a message directed to the mobile stations (118), and detects a response indicator in the selected ones of the plurality of communication cells (115, 117). The message may be a broadcast page message transmitted by the base station (112). The response indicator may be an impulse radio-frequency energy transmission generated by the plurality of mobile stations (118) operating within the selected ones of the plurality of communication cells (115, 117).
