  • Patent number: 6363128
Abstract: A multi-carrier transmission system, such as a DMT system. A receiver must be able to recover a sampling clock that is very accurately synchronized to a transmitter sampling clock. Typically, synchronization is achieved by using a reserved carrier, the pilot carrier, which is transmitted with a fixed phase. The receiver sampling clock is then phase locked to the pilot carrier. Frame timing can be recovered by using a correlation technique. Thus an improved method of recovering a sample clock and phase locking the sampling clock to a pilot carrier is provided.

  • Patent number: 6359926
Abstract: A two-way multi-carrier transmission system, such as a DMT system. If there are dynamic changes in the transmission parameters, synchronization must be maintained between the transmitter and the receiver when the transmission parameters changed. The first stage of such a process requires that the changes of parameter be notified by one transceiver to others involved in an active communication process over a slow transmission channel such as the control channel. Subsequently, the synchronization transceiver is adjusted simultaneously, i.e., from a predetermined DMT symbol. Such adjustments in time synchronization must be achieved with a minimum of overhead.

  • Patent number: 6346390
Abstract: Oligopeptides having an amino acid sequence corresponding to a receptor's extracellular domain, and having sequence similarity to regulatory peptides from MHC class I antigens, enhance the physiological response of ligand binding to the corresponding receptor. The oligopeptides are used in diagnosis and therapy of diseases that involve inadequate or inappropriate receptor response as well as in the screening of drug candidates that affect surface expression of receptors. Also useful for drug screening is a modified receptor molecule, where the sequence corresponding to the regulatory peptide is modified or deleted.

  • Patent number: 6320903
Abstract: A multi-carrier transmission system using orthogonal carriers with high order QAM constellations for the transmission of a plurality of bits per carrier and symbol. The system uses some method for the determination of an inverse channel model to be used in the equalization process. In the frequency domain, this is normally based on an estimate of the channel attenuation and phase for each carrier. A simplified method of equalization is provided which uses data at the symbol carrier input and output to adaptively estimate an inverse channel model.

  • Patent number: 6245213
Abstract: In a method for anisotropic etching of a structure in an electrically conductive substance to be etched, use is made of an etchant which in concentrated solution is usable for isotopic etching of structures in the substance to be etched. The substance to be etched is contacted with the etchant in a solution which is so diluted that the etchant is unusable for isotropic etching. The etchant is subjected, adjacent to the substance to be etched, to an electric field of such a strength that anisotropic etching of the substance to be etched is accomplished. Moreover, an etching fluid is described, comprising an etchant in dilute solution, in which the etchant is present in a concentration of 200 mM at most, and use of such an etching fluid for making structures which are 50 &mgr;m or less is also described.

  • Patent number: 6181714
Abstract: A multi-carrier transmission system using DMT. It is known to recover a receiver sample and clock from a reserved carrier, a pilot carrier having a fixed phase. A sampling clock oscillator in a receiver is then phase locked to the pilot carrier. Multi-carrier receivers, such as DMT receivers, are normally equipped with an FFT processor. A complex number representing the pilot carrier is then available from the FFT processor output. If an FFT processor is not available, a one frequency DFT processor can be provided to produce a complex estimate of the pilot carrier. In a DMT system, frame synchronization is handled separately from sampling clock synchronization, although the two processes are intimately related and frame synchronization must be acquired before sampling clock synchronization.

  • Patent number: 6160820
Abstract: A multi-carrier transmission system, particularly a discrete multi-tone (DMT) system. Data is transmitted between two transceivers using a plurality of carriers. The frequency bandwidth of the system is divided between the plurality of carriers. The transmission system is adapted for operation in a heterogeneous network including a number of subscriber equipments having different channel characteristics and coexisting on the same cable. The length of cable for each subscriber terminal varies in relation to its respective location. The transmission system includes an allocation device for allocating the traffic of subscriber equipments having a shorter length of cable to tones starting from a higher frequency band of the system bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 6098792
Abstract: A conveyor belt comprises a plurality of interconnected elements (1, 2), which are successively arranged in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt. The elements are movable relative to each other at least about axes (3) which extend transversely of the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt and in parallel with the plane of the conveyor belt. The elements (1, 2) are alternatively of a first type and a second type. Each element (1) of the first type has the form of an inversely U-shaped beam extended transversely of the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt. This beam has flanges (6) and a web (7) interconnecting the flanges as well as a plurality of openings (8), spaced apart along the beam, in each border area between the web (7) and the respective flanges (6). Each element (2) of the second type has lugs (5), which are locked against complete withdrawal from the neighboring openings (8) in each of the two adjoining elements (1) of the first type.

  • Patent number: 6084871
Abstract: A method of a mobile radio system for synchronization a transmitter and receiver. The system relates to MC/DS-CDMA-system. In the system information is transmitted digitally in frames. For that purpose a data channel, a pilot channel and a synchronization channel are created. In the data channel the data blocks D0, D1, D2 etc are separated by a guard space .DELTA.. In the pilot channel, respective the synchronization channel, the information is arranged in blocks which are synchronous with each other. The repeating distance, A, of the pilot channel, corresponds to the length of one of the data blocks D0, D1, D2 etc. The repeating distance for the synchronization channel is S, corresponding to a number of blocks in the data channel. In the synchronization channel information is introduced into the blocks which indicates their relation to the data channel.

  • Patent number: 6028171
Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided for regulating surface membrane receptor responses by modulating interaction between MHC Class I antigen and the surface membrane receptor. Various techniques may be employed for enhancing or reducing the interaction between the MHC Class I antigen and surface membrane receptor (e.g., enhancing surface expression of the MHC Class I antigen or employing agents which affect interaction between MHC Class I antigen and surface receptors). The aggregative characteristics of oligopeptides which act as agents in affecting interaction between MHC Class I antigen and surface receptors may be employed in a screening assay for determining drugs which affect interaction between Class I antigen and surface receptors. Active peptide aggregative characteristics may also be employed in a method of administration of effectors of surface receptor response modulation.
