  • Publication number: 20220395643
Abstract: A gas sterilizable syringe includes an enclosure having walls that define a fluid chamber. A flowable material is disposed within the fluid chamber of the enclosure. A plunger is assembled with the enclosure and is moveable toward a distal end of the enclosure for dispensing the flowable material. One or more apertures are formed in at least one of the walls of the enclosure. A gas permeable barrier covers at least one of the apertures formed in at least one of the walls of the enclosure for enabling sterilization gases to pass through the at least one aperture covered by the gas permeable barrier while preventing the flowable material from passing through the at least one of aperture. The gas permeable barrier is permeable to the sterilization gases and impermeable to the flowable material disposed within the fluid chamber of the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20220362007
Abstract: A method of making an implantable prosthesis includes applying a gelling enhancer layer over an inner surface of a wall of a silicone shell having anterior and posterior walls surrounding an interior volume. The method includes filling the interior volume of the shell with a silicone gel and curing the silicone gel. The cured silicone gel that is located within a zone that is in the vicinity of the gelling enhancer layer has a higher level of cohesiveness than the cured silicone gel that is located outside the zone. The zone of the silicone gel having the higher level of cohesiveness has a thickness of 2-10 mm. The silicone gel located outside the zone has a first concentration level of a gelling enhancer and the silicone gel located within the zone has a second concentration level of the gelling enhancer that is 5%-300% greater than the first concentration level.

  • Patent number: 11471268
Abstract: An implantable prosthesis includes a silicone shell having an apex, a base, a radius located between the apex and the base, and a dome extending between the apex and the radius. The silicone shell has an outer surface and an inner surface that surrounds an interior volume of the silicone shell. A silicone gel material is disposed within the interior volume of the silicone shell. A gelling enhancer layer containing a gelling enhancer covers the inner surface of the silicone shell. After the silicone gel material has been thermally cured, the silicone gel material that is located within a zone that is in the vicinity of the gelling enhancer layer has a higher level of cohesiveness than the silicone gel material that is located outside the zone. The gelling enhancer contains crosslinker and/or platinum catalyst, such as a Karstedt catalyst.

  • Patent number: 11254061
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to agents and devices for promoting hemostasis and, more particularly, to bioresorbable hemostatic pads or patches releasably supported on non-resorbable scaffolds for ease of delivery in the field. A sealant and/or hemostat delivery device comprises a resorbable hemostatic pad having a wound facing side and an opposite back side, with a hemostatic and/or wound sealing agent disposed on the wound facing side; a non-resorbable scaffold having an attachment zone on said scaffold; wherein said hemostatic pad is releasably attached with the back side to the attachment zone. The bond between the scaffold and the resorbable hemostatic pad or wound dressing is either (i) severed prior to removal of the scaffold or (ii) is weakened due to the adhesive bonding them together being moisture-deactivated, or (iii) is released by mechanical disentanglement.

  • Patent number: 11234691
Abstract: A reconfigurable suture needle includes an elongated body having a curved proximal section and a curved distal section. A joint interconnects a distal end of the curved proximal section and a proximal end of the curved distal section. The joint enables the curved proximal section and the curved distal section to rotate relative to one another between a first configuration having a higher profile and a second configuration having a lower profile. Each of the curved proximal and distal sections of the elongated body defines about one-quarter of a circle. The elongated body has a semi-circular shape when in the first configuration and a wave shape when in the second configuration. The elongated body is rotated into the smaller profile for passing through a cannula and, after passing through the cannula, rotated back into the higher profile for use as a suturing needle.
