Patent number: 8561667Abstract: A window treatment, in which a shade is raised and lowered, is comprised of a roller upon which shade material is reeled and unreeled. A wand drives a universal joint, preferably a uniquely configured knuckle joint, and the universal joint drives a flexible shaft which is connected to the roller. Special shaping of the parts and slots of the U shape links of mating knuckles enables smooth and positive universal joint operation. A user may pull down on the wand, to bend the flexible shaft and bring the knuckles into alignment, whereupon turning of the wand rotates the roller. When the wand is released the resilience of the flexible shaft helps lift the driven knuckle so it is parallel to the horizontal roller, and the drive roller moves to a home position which inhibits counter-rotation of the roller due to the weight of the shade.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2011Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing Co.Inventors: Michael Hanley, Leo E. Patent number: 8214938Abstract: A shower bar assembly that includes a pair of mounting brackets configured and arranged to be mounted to a wall of a shower stall is disclosed. Each of the mounting brackets has a base portion with a first shelf and a second shelf projecting from the base portion. The first and second shelves each have a retaining peg projecting from each shelf, respectively. A tubular shower bar is included and has two opposing ends. Each of the ends of the tubular shower bar has a pair of surfaces in which each defines an aperture through the tubular shower bar. Each end of the tubular shower bar is configured and arranged to slide onto the first and second shelves of the mounting brackets, with the apertures interlocking with each of the retaining pegs, respectively, to suspend the shower bar between the mounting brackets and to prevent the shower bar from rotating between the brackets.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2006Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Michael Hanley, Leo E. Publication number: 20100263808Abstract: A wall opening covering is disclosed. The covering includes a take up member attached to a support assembly. The take up member is rotatable in a first direction and a second direction and the support assembly is configured and arranged to fasten to a wall opening. A lifting member is retained by the take up member. A front panel is suspended in the wall opening and connected to the lifting member. The front panel is movable between a first position and a second position whereby rotation of the take up member in the first direction gathers the lifting member thereby drawing the front panel to the first position and rotation of the take up member in the second direction releases the lifting member thereby drawing the front panel to the second position. The wall opening covering may further include a transmission assembly driving the take up member.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2010Publication date: October 21, 2010Applicant: KENNEY MANUFACTURING CO.Inventors: Michael Hanley, Leo E. Patent number: 5683024Abstract: A housing including a handle portion and drive portion is provided. A power operated drive in the housing drive portion is operable to be selectively moved through a drive stroke and a return stroke. A nosepiece and magazine assembly are carried by the housing including cooperating fixed and movable structure defining an elongated drive track, a feed track leading laterally into the drive track, and a coil container leading into the feed track. A fastener driving element is slidably mounted in the drive track and operatively connected with the power operated drive so as to drive a leading fastener fed into the drive track from the feed track outwardly of the drive track. The unitary movable structure is mounted for pivotal movement when a fastener package has been depleted from a closed operating position in cooperating relation with the fixed structure into an open loading position. An actuating mechanism is provided for actuating the power operated drive to move through an operating cycle.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1995Date of Patent: November 4, 1997Assignee: Stanley-Bostitch, Inc.Inventors: Mark R.
