  • Patent number: 5802800
Abstract: Simulated beam construction which has a central elongated I-beam member having opposing ends for connecting to opposing side panel members. The side panel members each have opposing lateral ends and later elongate panels extending between the lateral ends so as to enclose the central elongate I-beam. Flanged grooves on the lateral ends for sliding attachment to the lateral panels. The simulated wood beam construction has an I-beam member which is an elongate member, that when viewed in cross-section, has flanges or flanged slots on each opposite end for co-operative engagement with the opposing panel member. As an alternate embodiment it may be preferable to construct the I-beam of two substantial identical elongate members, fastened one to the other.

  • Patent number: 5111621
Abstract: A window and portal frame assembly for a building which comprises an elongate inner frame section and pane holding frame section with the portal frame and pane frame section slidingly connected to one another by an intermediate window slide mechanism. Both sections have rigid pronged projections and grooved decorative strips having their grooves cooperatively connected over the pronged projections. In both the frame sections the decorative strips act as a more efficient insulating barrier and in the pane holding frame one of the decorative strips forms one of two opposing abutment surfaces for holding the pane in place in the frame.

  • Patent number: 4875311
Abstract: A simulated beam construction comprises a rectangular elongated core member with several laterally arranged prongs or barbs. Wooden, laminated wooden or plastic planks with a lateral channel are fitted closely together and adapted to receive one of the barbs for the anchoring of the planks along the core member. Two L-shaped planks are arranged on opposite sides of the extrusion member such that the horizontal legs abut each other and cooperate with the other laterally arranged planks to enclose the core member.

  • Patent number: 4724646
Abstract: An assembly for securing roof panels at selectable pitch angles includes an extruded ridge bar having a horizontal ledge and a horizontally extending arcuate flange which form a horizontal slot in which the roof panels are supported at the desired pitch. Horizontally extending end portions of the arcuate flange are removable to set the angle of the slot for the desired pitch. Roof support bars extending along the side edges of the roof panels are connected to the ridge bar at the selected pitch by hinge assemblies having their pivot axes coincident with the center of curvature of the arcuate flange. A header supporting the panels at the eave comprises two extruded channel members pivotally connecting one flange of each channel member. A bifurcated arcuate end portion of the other flange on one channel member straddles the arcuate end portion of the other flange on the other channel member as the channel members are rotated to set the selected roof pitch.

  • Patent number: 4233119
Abstract: An improved cleaning apparatus for the removal of carbonaceous deposits from the inner surfaces of the ascension pipe elbows and ascension pipe employed on coke ovens. The cleaning apparatus is comprised of a base support, a movable support and a cleaning element. The base support is mounted on a larry car and the movable support is superimposed upon and connected to the base support. The cleaning element is pivotally attached to the movable support and is equipped with a cleaning head mounted on the end of an arm and means for moving the arm in and out of the pipe which is to be cleaned.

  • Patent number: 4177975
Abstract: The exhaust hood above a metallurgical furnace, where the furnace has an open top and is supported to move in a vertical arc beneath the hood from an upright position to tilt in one direction to a charging position and in the other direction to a tapping position, terminates in an opening which is usually circular and of a diameter such that it may receive gases and dust from the open top of the furnace when the furnace is tilted to one side or the other, as well as when it is vertical. A frame structure supported above the opening in the hood and arranged to be shifted horizontally relative to the hood has a panel suspended therefrom with operating means on the frame for swinging the panel in a vertical arc from a storage position where it is removed from the space between the top of the furnace and the hood downwardly to a level below the open end of the hood and then upwardly against the bottom of the hood to close the greater portion of the bottom of the hood and leave but a segment of the bottom open.

  • Patent number: 3995344
Abstract: A low profile soaking pit machine for breaking and removing slag from a soaking pit. The machine has a low horizontal profile above the soaking pit to permit a soaking pit cover carriage to pass over the machine when the machine is resting on the soaking pit. The machine has a supporting frame and a means for rotatably and pivotally supporting a demolition tool downwardly from the horizontal frame. The tool breaks the slag. A second means couples the first means to the horizontal frame and raises and lowers the first means above the horizontal frame from a collapsed position which provides the low horizontal profile.
