    Abstract: A system and method for controlling a power system. A rotor is attached to a crankshaft of an engine. A stator is positioned with respect to the rotor such that the rotor and the stator together form an electric generator for generating electrical power when the rotor is rotated. An electrical current in the electric generator is controlled to control mechanical power provided by the crankshaft when the engine is running.
