  • Publication number: 20080042953
Abstract: This invention relates to a method, a computer program, a computer program product and a device for reducing motion blur of images shown on non-stroboscopic display devices, in which local areas p, of an image of a video signal are displayed during respective local display times t; that are less than or equal to a image period T, comprising determining (40) an amount X; of high spatial frequency content related to a local area p, of said image of said video signal, and adjusting (41) a local display time t, in dependence on said determined amount X; of high spatial frequency content, wherein said local display time t; is decreased with increasing determined amount X; of high spatial frequency content.

  • Publication number: 20070146509
Abstract: The invention relates to a color display device for display a color image and a method of operating such display. The color display device is provided with a plurality of picture elements, two selectable light sources having different predetermined radiance spectra, color selection means which in combination with the selectable light sources is able to produce respective first and second primary colors on the display panel and control means arranged to select alternately one of the selectable light sources and to provide a portion of the picture elements with image information corresponding to the respective primary colors obtainable with the selected light source. The primary colors of the display device can be selected in a time sequential and space sequential way which enable a reduction of a color break-up.

  • Publication number: 20070126928
Abstract: This invention relates to a method, a computer program, a computer program product, and a device for reducing motion blur of images of a video signal shown on a hold-type display (101), comprising estimating (1102) motion vectors of moving components in said images of said video signal; band-pass filtering (1100, 1101) said video signal with respect to a spatial frequency domain, wherein said band-pass filtering at least partially depends on said estimated motion vectors, and wherein with increasing length of said estimated motion vectors, the passband of said band-pass filtering adaptively shifts from high spatial frequencies to medium spatial frequencies; and combining (1104) said video signal and said band-pass filtered video signal to produce an input video signal for said hold-type display.

  • Publication number: 20060061690
Abstract: An image processing apparatus (100) comprises: receiving means for receiving a video signal representing input images; a film-detector unit (108) for detecting whether the input images have been captured by a film camera or by a video camera; and a sharpness enhancement unit (106) for calculating sharpness enhanced images on basis of the input images. The sharpness enhancement unit (106) is controlled by the film-detector unit (108), whereby the sharpness enhancement is larger if the film-detector unit (108) has detected that the input images have been captured by the film camera than if the film-detector unit (108) has detected that the input images have been captured by the video camera.

  • Publication number: 20050190164
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a circuit arrangement to reduce motion blur of images shown in non-stroboscopic display devices, in particular Liquid Crystal Display Panels (LCDs). Thin Film Transistor Displays (TFTs), Colour Sequential Displays. Plasma Display Panels (PDPs), Digital Micro Mirror Devices or Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) displays, in which motion vectors depending on moving components in each image of an input video, signal are calculated, in which anti-motion blur filtering of the input video signal is performed based on the calculated motion vectors to produce an output video signal, and in which images are generated on said display device depending on said output video signal. In order to provide an improved spatial filtering with less noise enhancement and less noise modulation, it is proposed that edge characteristics in each image of the input video signal are determined and that anti-motion blur filtering is further based on said determined edge characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20050168492
Abstract: Method display device and computer program product that reduces motion blur, flicker and loss of brightness of images shown in non-stoboscopic display devices, such as Liquid Crystal or Light Emitting Diodes displays, in which each image of input video signal is displayed during a display time ti, which is less than or equal to a picture period T. The motion and the characteristics of motion are measured and the display time ti is continuously adjusted between O and T depending on this measured motion and the caracteristics of motion. To further reduce flicker and loss of brightness encountered when reducing the display time, anti-mot on blur filtering of the input video signal is performed, where the display time and the amount and sort of filtering is jointly controlled based on the measured motion and characteristics of motion.
