  • Publication number: 20240191166
Abstract: Methods of keeping microorganisms working at maximum efficiency in an anaerobic digester to produce a renewable biogas, within a temperature range of 100 degrees F., preferably at a plus or minus of 0.5 degrees F., without adding heat to the mixture. Most preferably, the method includes premixing a batch of biomass including the microorganisms to form a uniform mixture, which also can include preheating the mixed biomass to approximately 100 degrees F. The digester operation identifies the rate that the mixture in the digester can be changed to a different mixture. Furthermore, the method can include separately collecting the CH4 biogas and the CO2 biogas in different chambers to meet the desired concentration of each these gases and can include removing from the biogas any sulfur containing gas and liquid water, and additionally separating lighter and/or heavier than water non-organic materials prior to them entering the digester.

  • Patent number: 6296766
Abstract: A method for an anaerobic digester system is provided that employs a cumulative data base to better monitor and control the anaerobic process, as compared with conventional anaerobic digester systems. The method includes the storing and ensiling of a feedstock, preferably a biomass, to form a digester feed material, which then processed by a digester. The process evolves a biogas and forms a digested material. The process is monitored, to collect a plurality of digester data from all stages of the process. These individual points or elements of the data are telemetered to a cumulative data base for storage and eventual retrieval and the cumulative data base is mined to compile predictive, feed forward controls and construct feedstock correlations between the metabolic activity within the digesters and an analysis of the feedstocks into the digesters. The method further includes the production of a high quality plant growth media from the digested mash, and recovery of the biogas generated within the digester.

  • Patent number: 6117672
Abstract: A system for removing particulate, sulfur dioxide, nitrogenous oxides and other condensables from the flue gas of a coal, lignite, or other solid fuel combustor. The system can combine biomass filtration, anaerobic digestion, steam absorption refrigeration, and heat exchangers to minimize parasitic energy consumption, solid and liquid waste disposal and interference with combustion efficiency, while achieving near total reduction of contaminants without regard to sulfur or ash content of fuel. Gases at the exit of a multiclone of a fuel-combustor enter a waste heat boiler, generating low pressure steam that drives a steam absorption chiller. The flue gas which still contains small particulate material pass through a moving belt system conveying a mat of chopped biomass that can be impregnated with bacteria that feed on nitrogenous oxides. The mat is sufficiently thick and moist to entrap the remaining solids and smoke in the exhaust stream.

  • Patent number: 5269076
Abstract: A balanced draft vent system for a lumber kiln is shown and described wherein external and internal air pressure differential is taken into account in conjunction with internal humidity measurement in providing a balanced volumetric exchange of cool moisture laden air exiting the kiln and ambient air introduced into the kiln. The air exchange function of the balanced draft vent system operates independent of the driving forces of air circulation within the kiln.

  • Patent number: 5050314
Abstract: A method and apparatus for regulating drying kiln airflow by disposing within drying kiln walls 1 one or more inflatable baffle bags, such as top bag 10, bottom bag 20, side bags 30, or end bags 40. Inflated baffle bags engage a stack of product 2 in such a way that drying airflow directed through the drying kiln flows through product stack 2, and not around it.
