  • Publication number: 20230083998
Abstract: A Method for regulating the Operation of a Milk Pump The present invention relates to a method for regulating the operation of a milk pump by applying a vacuum by means of a vacuum source operatively coupled with a control for controlling the operation of the vacuum source and aims to provide such method for pumping milk form the breast of a nursing mother which is able to provide sufficient yield of milk without adversely affecting the breast tissue properties by controlling the operation of the vacuum source such that the control receives a signal indicative of a volume flow (V) of milk and adjusts at least one of the following operational parameters of the vacuum source: vacuum strength, cycle frequency or shape of vacuum profile over time.

  • Publication number: 20220409783
Abstract: A breast shield for expressing human breast milk. The breast shield includes an outer housing and a flexible inner liner within the outer housing. In use, with the breast shield applied to a breast, the inner liner is in contact with the surface of both the areola and nipple of the breast. The breast shield further includes an outer chamber between the outer housing and the inner liner and an inner chamber within the inner liner. In use, the inner and outer chambers, are subjectable to differential pressure and the differential pressure is operable to cause the inner liner to exert a massaging effect against the surface of both the areola and nipple of a breast.

  • Publication number: 20170172167
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to a composition for feeding an infant. More particularly, the disclosure relates to a nutritional composition for feeding an infant comprising a stem-cell deficient first component and a second component comprising breast milk stem cells (BSCs). The second component is added to the first component, and the BSCs partially or fully replenish the stem-cell deficient first component with respect to BSCs. In some embodiments the first component is stem-cell deficient human breast milk and the second component comprises BSCs from the infant's mother's own milk. The compositions of the present disclosure have been developed primarily as a personalized, nutritional composition providing the beneficial effects of an infant's mother's own BSCs to the infant while not being able to receive the full benefits of being breastfed directly. The present disclosure also relates to a composition for feeding an infant and to processes of their production.

  • Patent number: 8322546
Abstract: A teat unit for sucking a liquid from a liquid container includes a teat and a flow restrictor with a through-opening. The teat comprises a mouthpiece, with a suction opening, and a main body which is formed integrally on the mouthpiece and widens relative to the mouthpiece. The flow restrictor defines a maximum flow of the liquid passing through the suction opening from the liquid container. According to the invention, the flow restrictor is arranged outside the mouthpiece, and the suction opening has a greater cross-sectional surface area than the through-opening of the flow restrictor. The teat unit permits a feeding action that is as true to nature as possible, since the mouthpiece can be deformed very considerably, without substantially impairing the flow restriction.

  • Publication number: 20080097376
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of determining a strategic expression regime for a pump-dependent mother that optimizes the mother's milk production while minimizing the demands on the mother. The regime takes into account the impact of the interval between breast expressions on milk yield for individual breasts within the mother.
