Patent number: 10206765Abstract: A dental floss apparatus for cleaning the gaps between adjacent teeth which is comprised of a pair of handles which are configured for engagement with the fingers and having one or a plurality of strands of flossing substrate extending therebetween. The flossing substrate extends within an opening formed between the ends of the two handles, during tensioned employment of the handles by a user. A dissolvable component may be positioned within the opening through an engagement with one or both of the handles or the flossing substrate. The dissolvable component dissolves to a solution during use to deposit a residue on the surface of the teeth. The solution from the dissolving component may be colorized or fluorescent, and have an additive material such as mouthwash, breath freshener, cooling agent, or flavor.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2016Date of Patent: February 19, 2019Inventor: Leonard G. Patent number: 8381742Abstract: A dental floss apparatus for cleaning the gaps between adjacent teeth which is comprised of a pair of handles that are configured for engagement with the fingers with strands of flossing substrate extending therebetween. The flossing substrates are spaced from each other, running substantially parallel and extending within an opening formed between the ends of the handles, with tension maintained by the user through employment of the handles. A dissolvable substrate is positioned within this opening through an engagement with one or both of the handles or the flossing substrate, and upon contact with the surface of the teeth, dissolves, and deposits a residue on the surface of the teeth and the surrounding area of the mouth.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2011Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Inventor: Leonard G. A dissolvable substrate is positioned within this opening through an engagement with one or both of the handles or the flossing substrate, and upon contact with the surface of the teeth, dissolves, and deposits a residue on the surface of the teeth and the surrounding area of the mouth. The dissolvable substrate may be formed of two substrate pieces with a central gap between them defining a means for targeting insertion of the substrate between adjacent teeth and may be colorized or luminescent and have an additive material such as mouthwash, breath freshener, cooling agent, or flavor.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2012Publication date: August 9, 2012Inventor: Leonard G. Publication number: 20110265811Abstract: A dental floss device for cleaning the gaps between adjacent teeth. The device features a pair of handles configured for an engagement with the fingers and having strands of flossing substrate extending therebetween. The flossing substrates running substantially parallel in a spaced configuration extend within an opening formed between the ends of the handles when tensioned by the user. A dissolvable substrate positioned within the opening upon moisture contact, dissolves to deposit a residue on the surface of the teeth and the surrounding area of the mouth. Enhancement of the frictional engagement between the user's fingers and the handles during a tensioning of the floss for use, is provided by an elongated slot enabling a splayed engagement between the surface of the fingers and the flexible handles, or a friction enhancing adherent positioned upon the handle surfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2011Publication date: November 3, 2011Inventor: Leonard G. Lorch

Patent number: 7281541Abstract: An improved dental floss employing a planar substrate with one or a plurality of apertures formed therein. At each aperture, a pair of edible substrate side portions having a perimeter portion slightly larger than the perimeter of the aperture are positioned and joined to each other through the aperture in the planar substrate thereby securing the edible substrate to the planar substrate. Dismounting of the edible substrate is achieved by tensioning the planar substrate around a tooth during use and aided by saliva dissolving the edible substrate. The edible substrate can be flavored or impregnated with medicine, mouthwash or flavorings. Additionally at least one of the two side portions of the edible substrate may include a design element which may include a geometric shape, a cartoon shape, indicia, or a logo.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2004Date of Patent: October 16, 2007Inventor: Leonard G. Patent number: 4162687Abstract: A flossing device is provided having a handle with a pair of resilient arms. Fingers extend from the arms and the longitudinal axes of the fingers form an angle of between 30.degree. and 180.degree. with each other. Each finger has a knob at its distal end. A length of flossing material is provided which is connected at each end to a grommet so that the flossing material and grommets can be readily attached and detached from the device. A safety strand is also provided which resists cutting of the user's gums by the flossing material.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1978Date of Patent: July 31, 1979Inventor: Leonard G. Lorch

Patent number: 3939478Abstract: A decorative mobile formed of interconnected planar members arranged for relative movement and normally supported from a single point on the ceiling of a room, or other supporting location. The individual planar members are of laminated construction, including a centrally disposed base having a printed circuit on at least one surface thereof, the conductors of which extend outwardly on elongated tabs to provide electrical connections to adjacent mechanically interconnected planar members. Mechanical elongated linkage means is provided performing the dual function of completely enclosing the electrical communication between adjacent members, and providing for relative movement about the principal axis of the linkage. At least some of the planar members are provided with incandescent lamps engaging sockets or otherwise communicating with the printed circuitry of the respective planar member. In normal use, the mobile is supported from an electrical outlet communicating with the circuitry.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1974Date of Patent: February 17, 1976Inventor: Leonard G. Lorch
