  • Patent number: 5967000
Abstract: A plug remover for extracting a plug from a marker bottle or the like slips laterally over and entraps the plug. The plug remover includes a handle making it easy to grasp, which in the preferred embodiment has a flat top surface and can be inverted and placed on a table top or other surface, with the plug still in the plug remover, while the bottle is refilled. In the preferred embodiment the plug remover includes a bottom cam which, after the plug has been entrapped by the remover, can be turned along the thread of the bottle neck and rides up the thread to provide additional leverage for overcoming the "stiction" between the plug and the neck of the bottle.

  • Patent number: 5916190
Abstract: A bandage for wrapping an amputee's stump to reduce the potential for swelling and deformation of the stump after amputation. The bandage includes an elongate wrap, at least one strip attached to the wrap and means for releasably fastening the wrap around the stump. The wrap has a length sufficient to wrap around the stump and a resilience sufficient to retain the bandage adjacent an end of the stump when the wrap is stretched around the stump. The strip extends laterally outward from the wrap. The strip has a width generally equal to the diameter of the stump and a length sufficient to wrap around the end of the stump when the wrap is wrapped around the stump adjacent the end of the stump. The strip is sufficiently resilient to compress the stump to reduce the potential for swelling and deformation of the stump when the strip is stretched around the end of the stump.

  • Patent number: 4832007
Abstract: A pillow of resilient material has a generally rotatable portion (cervical roll) for supporting the cervical region of a user. With a user's neck received across the pillow cervical roll and the user's head received on the pillow, rotation of the cervical roll in conjunction with collapse of angled chambers defined within the resilient pillow establishes traction in the cervical region of the user. Once its internal chambers are essentially fully collapsed, the pillow provides a generally continuous support medium for optimized resilient support of the user's neck and head, while maintaining a degree of cervical region traction with natural cervical curvature achieved through curved support of the user's cervical region across the cervical roll of the pillow.

  • Patent number: 4795405
Abstract: The present invention provides a structural member for use in theatrical rigging formed by forward and rearward components integrated with one another. The forward component comprises a counterweight guide and the rearward component comprises a hollow mount with an axially extending undercut slot for slidably receiving securing members to be affixed to a support for the structural member.
