  • Patent number: 6725392
Abstract: A controller fault recovery system recovers from faults that cause unscheduled stops for a distributed file system operating on an array storage system having multiple controllers. A proxy arrangement protects data integrity in the event of an unscheduled stop on just one controller in the array storage system. An atomic data/parity update arrangement protects data integrity in the event of an unscheduled stop of more than one controller.

  • Patent number: 4360315
Abstract: The present invention relates to wind turbines and more particularly to such a device having a horizontally disposed power output shaft pivotally supported by a turntable. Attached to the output shaft are a number of circumferentially spaced apart blades which are each hinged along their leading edges with the hinge axes inclined obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. A spring controlled governor is provided to control the pivotal position of each of the blades around their respective hinge axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4125343
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fluid motor of the turbine class in which a pair of rotatable blades are carried in orbital revolution around the output shaft of the motor and wherein the blades are operably interconnected to the output shaft and to a weathercock vane so as to present an optimum surface to the driving fluid at all times.

  • Patent number: 4080935
Abstract: An internal combustion engine of the rotary type comprises a housing or block provided with a cavity which is cylindrical in one portion and enlarged in another; the side walls of the cavity are flat. A drive shaft is rotatably mounted in the housing for rotation about the axis of the cylindrical portion of the cavity and a cylindrical rotor is mounted in fixed relationship eccentrically on the shaft. The throw of the eccentric is somewhat less than the radius of the cylindrical portion so that the eccentric acts as an impeller driving air around the cylindrical portion of the cavity with some blow-by of air and no metal to metal contact. A pair of fluid barriers or partitions are pivoted at their outer ends on the wall of the cavity and have their opposite ends biased against the rotor in sealing engagement. The partitions thus divide the cavity into a combustion chamber and an air pumping chamber.
