Abstract: A room air conditioner in which a blower housing is formed of a foamed insulation material. The foamed insulation material is formed in three separate pieces with each of the pieces fitting together to form a single structural unit forming the blower housing and wall portions of two separate air conduits. The pieces are configured and apertured to fit snugly together and to provide various passages for diverse components of the air conditioner.

Abstract: A room air conditioner in which separate lateral air outlets are provided for returning chilled air to the room. A blower wheel is used to draw air into the air conditioner through the evaporator and a housing for the blower wheel has two volute openings that lead to separate connecting passages to the outlet openings. An easily removable filter is provided at the front panel of the air conditioner which does not require removal of the front panel for its removal. Also a highly effective exhaust air door is provided in at least one of the connecting passages for use in exhausting air from the room.

An air outlet device having horizontal and vertical louvers is provided at the air outlets and both sets of louvers can be pivoted such that the user can independently select a direction for the exiting air streams from a wide range of vertical and horizontal angles. The air outlet devices are preferably modular units which are attached to the air conditioner by means of releasable vertically oriented pivots.

Abstract: An adjustable louver assembly for a room air conditioner or other air flow conduit outlet having pivotable horizontal and vertical louvers and which is assembled as a modular unit for attachment to or removal from the air conduit. The assembly is comprised of only three pieces, a box-like housing member, a horizontal louver member and a vertical louver member which are assembled together without the need for additional fasteners. The horizontal louvers are pivotable relative to the box-like member and may be positioned in one of a plurality of discrete angular positions.
