  • Publication number: 20100187846
Abstract: This invention relates to a gripper for engaging, clamping, taking up and delivering delicate products, for instance fruit or vegetables, wherein the gripper comprises at least two engaging surfaces and wherein the product, upon engaging and taking up, is in contact with the gripper at the location of at least two points of contact, wherein at the location of the points of contact, the gripper comprises at least two engaging strips which are connected to a drive system with which each of the two strips is independently driven so as to be movable substantially in the said parallel direction. Further, one or several such robots can be combined with a camera system, or also, with a robot. Combining gripper pairs, or several strips per gripper gives the highly advantageous possibility not only to be able to process objects of many shapes, but especially to realize any desired orientation of such a product.

  • Publication number: 20090218257
Abstract: A system for sorting and packaging products, chosen from the group consisting of eggs and fruit (10), the system comprising: —a sorting machine with at least one single sorting track (1) with carriers; —at least one sensor for determining at least one characteristic of each product (10); —the control being adapted to classify a said product in accordance with the at least one characteristic; —a plurality of packaging conveyors (2) for supplying and discharging packaging units, such as boxes, crates or trays, crossing the sorting track and extending above the sorting track; —wherein adjacent each packaging conveyor a transferring device (3) is provided at the level of or higher than the packaging conveyor, arranged for taking over a said product from a carrier and for placing the product from above into a packaging unit (20) on the corresponding packaging conveyor.

  • Patent number: 6998559
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for determining characteristics of products of generally unequal size, e.g. apples, which are conveyed on product carriers, such as rollers of a conveying apparatus, and pass the system, the system comprising a detection device, arranged at some distance from the products, having a transmitter section and a receiver section, as well as a signal processing unit for processing signals to and from the system, including the signals of the receiver section for determining the characteristics, the system further comprising: a sensor which, prior to the passage of a product, scans the size of each passing product and produces a corresponding scanning signal, and a displacement device, for positioning, in accordance with each scanning signal, at least the receiver section of the detection device at a well-defined distance during the passage of each product.

  • Publication number: 20030156281
Abstract: A calibrator for a sorting device, with a conveyor running in the conveying direction T for sorting articles resembling each other, such as well-determined kinds of vegetables or fruits, the calibrator being used for repeatedly testing and calibrating a light beam coming from a test article, resembling, and obtained in the same manner as, the beams obtained when sorting the above articles, comprising: a first holder for a light receiving device, for instance a light fiber end with which the light beam from either an above article or the test article is received and passed from there further to a detection device, and a second holder with the test article placed therein, characterised in that the second holder is movably connected with the first holder between a test position and a rest position, the position of the test article in the test position at least substantially corresponding to the position of an article when sorting, in the test position the light beam being passed along a light guide path successi

  • Patent number: 6539781
Abstract: In a method for determining the hardness of a product, for instance fruit, during a measuring cycle, comprising: supporting the product, tapping the product with a tapping device at least one position of the product, as a result of which the product as a whole is set in its natural vibration and produces vibration signals, sensing the vibration signals with a signal sensor, and processing the vibration signals with a signal processing device, in which the hardness FRi of the product is determined, and further comprising: sensing the signals produced by the tapping device with a second signal sensor, processing the vibration signals with a second signal processing device, the elastic properties of the product being determined in a volume range around the above at least one position, determining the hardness FIi of the product, comparing FIi and FRi and checking the comparison with a pre-adjusted value, the tapping and sensing with the second signal sensor being repeated when the comparison does not satisfy the
