Abstract: A method for manufacturing brushes, whereby brush bodies (2) which are provided with openings (12) according to a specific hole pattern are supplied to a filling station (6), whereat bundles of fibres (7) are supplied to the openings (12) at this filling station (6). Each brush body (2) is successively presented to at least two filling tools (13-14) at each filling station (6), whereby each filling tool (13-14) fills the entire hole pattern with bundles of fibres (7) in different steps, and whereby at each step, each of the filling tools (13-14) fills the same part (A-B) of said hole pattern in different brush bodies (2).

Abstract: A method for supplying fibres to a filling tool in brush manufacturing machines, includes, per operating cycle, taking a bundle of fibres (7) from a selected fibre supply duct (4,5) to the filling tool (3) by means of a bundle take-up device (6) which cooperates with at least two fibre ducts (4,5), and using, for the selective supply of the fibres (2-2A), moveable closing devices (19,20) which cooperate with the supply ends (11,12) of the fibre ducts (4,5) and which ensure, by their movement that fibres (2-2A) can only be taken from one fibre duct (4,5) at a time by the bundle take-up device. The closing devices (19,20) are mounted on a common support for simultaneous movement each cycle.

Abstract: Individual tufts of bristles are picked from a supply of pre-cut bristles having rounded utilization-side ends and transferred to a vise. The vise has a number of through holes arranged in a pattern corresponding to that of the tufts on the finished tooth brushes. While tufts of bristles are held in the through holes of the vise with their ends projecting on both sides, a die member having a profiled face is advanced into engagement with the ends of the bristles to move them axially through the holes of the vise and with respect to each other until both ends of the bristles are aligned in parallel planes corresponding in shape to that of the profiled face. The tufts of bristles are now clamped in the vise and transferred to the brush body head to be implanted therein.

Abstract: A tool for the multicomponent injection molding of brush bodies and more particularly of toothbrush bodies, including two tool parts able to be moved towards and away from each other and which between them jointly define a plurality of mold cavities. In accordance with the invention at least two of the mold cavities are permanently associated with different components. The at least one mold cavity, which is permanently associated with the first component to be injected, has a recess in the shaping surface of the one tool part, such recess being able to be shut off by an insert element, which is able to be moved in relation to this tool part and on which a head is formed, which, when the mold cavity is shut off by the insert element, extends into the cavity. The insert element is mounted on a carrier such that a premolding molded in this mold cavity, which is associated with this component to be injected firstly, may be moved into another mold cavity associated with another component.

Abstract: A brush manufacturing machine comprising a brush body carrier for holding a brush body by its opposite ends, the carrier including two clamping components disposed in line with each other for engaging the opposite ends of the brush body, the clamping components being carried on rotatable pins that move the components towards and away from each other and rotate the brush body.

Abstract: The device according to the invention is of a concept whereby means are provided per brush-manufacturing machine, that can contain a series of cassettes, that are placed above or beside each other and that, under control, can be brought opposite the fibre magazine of the machine one by one to be emptied into this fibre magazine.

Abstract: Arrangement for filling cassettes with fibres, characterized thereby that it consists of the combination of a supply magazine, in this supply magazine a displaceable pressing member on the one hand and second pressing members on the other hand, means that can command the pressing member or the second pressing means, separating means that can separate a well-determined amount of fibres, second separating means able to further free the fibres from each other, means able to remove the separated fibres from the supply magazine and a cassette that can receive this small amount of fibres.

Abstract: A fibre loading device for a brush manufacturing machine, characterized in that it has a replaceable fibre box which has a number of fibre chambers; a mechanism which allows movement of the fibre chambers one by one in front of the fibre magazine of the brush manufacturing machine; and mechanism allowing the transfer of the fibres from a selected fibre chamber into the fibre magazine of the brush manufacturing machine.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a device for orientating workpieces, more especially brush bodies, of the type that is formed by a feeding box for workpieces; a transport device which conveys the workpieces one by one opposite to a detecting device and an orienter which place all detected workpieces in the same position, in order to finally feed them into a magazine or processing machine. The detecting and orientating devices are formed by a support which is located opposite to a transport device consisting of a drum and fixed to the side wall of the device, to which support, radially movable in relation to the aforesaid transport drum, is fixed a bridge which, on one side of the transport drum and in the path of the workpieces. A stop is provided on the other side of the transport drum, and coaxially with a first stop.

Abstract: Device for handling brush bodies made of flexible material, characterized by the fact that it mainly consists of the combination of means for liberating brush bodies one at a time, means which punch holes in this brush bodies and means which maintain the brush body in the correct location during the punching of aforesaid holes; and means which maintain the brush body in the correct location during the filling thereof with fibres.
