  • Patent number: 7496924
Abstract: A telecommunications system having a software dispatcher is provided for delivering messages between dispatcher clients, i.e., software subsystems that may be in the same process, a different process, or on a different machine. The dispatcher manages a pool of threads to balance the workload. The dispatcher can process both synchronous and asynchronous messages by dispatching the message to all registered subsystems in order of their registered priority.

  • Patent number: 7111205
Abstract: An improved method, apparatus and computer system for automatically reporting of faults in a telephonic network is described. When a network fault is detected, a determination is made by a fault analyzer whether or not the detected fault is a reportable fault. If the detected fault is a reportable fault, then an alarm report based upon the reportable fault is generated which is then distributed based upon a distribution list. The distribution list includes only those destination addresses associated with the reportable fault. The alarm report in distributed to any number and kind of communications devices such as, a pager, an email server, and a control console.

  • Publication number: 20060067340
Abstract: Methods for efficiently establishing TLS connections include detecting the proximity of a user relative to a communication device and establishing a TLS connection between the switch and the communication device based on the proximity of the user. An apparatus according to the invention may include one or more proximity sensors coupled to a presence server, which may be coupled to a soft switch. If proximity of a user is detected, such information may be published as part of a user's availability to a presence server. Publication may be accomplished with any device that has network connectivity. The soft switch may gain access to the presence information by subscribing to the presence server. When proximity is detected, such information may be published to the presence server and a TLS connection may be established by a soft switch.

  • Publication number: 20060034429
Abstract: The present invention may include a call controller for initiating third-party call control requests. The invention may also include an endpoint control manager for determining whether a remote endpoint is a simple endpoint or intelligent endpoint. The invention may further include an intelligent device manager for coordinating third-party call control requests from the call controller for endpoints determined to be intelligent by the endpoint control manager, and a simple device manager for coordinating third-party call control requests from the call controller for endpoints determined to be simple by the endpoint control manager.

  • Publication number: 20050262530
Abstract: Systems and methods that allow users in predefined communications groups to selectively control and manage the transfer of multimedia information across a wire or wireless network by allowing a group member to record multimedia content and transmit such content to a distribution server are provided. The present invention may also include a user interface for use with the multimedia messaging system that automatically notifies group members of new member multimedia content.

  • Publication number: 20050037741
Abstract: A telecommunications device includes a broker module that translates telephone, mail and presence status information into short coded plain-text strings suitable for transmission over low-speed, high latency, high-cost IP networks. The broker module further transmits and receives such messages, to allow a user to monitor voicemail, e-mail, IM, and presence status, as well as control various telephone functions remotely.

  • Publication number: 20030064711
Abstract: A server computer coupled to a CTI capable telephone or a Teleworking Server coupled to a PBX is also coupled to a wireless gateway/router and is provided with communications software. A personal digital assistant with wireless capabilities or a cell phone with computing capabilities is provided with corresponding communications software for communicating via the wireless network with the server. The server monitors one or more phone numbers associated with each client. When a call comes in, the server immediately notifies the client. The client can direct the server to transfer the call to a nearby phone. This can be accomplished by parking the call in a system slot and by retrieving the call with a nearby desk phone, thus not needing to know the number of the desk phone. Otherwise, the client can have the call forwarded to another telephone number. The client can also redirect the call to voicemail or a personal messaging system.
