  • Patent number: 6251437
Abstract: A hemodialysis acid concentrate which includes, before mixing, sodium chloride powder and sometimes dextrose powder as a powder component, and a liquid component which contains some or all of the following: potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, sodium chloride, dextrose, calcium chloride, and an acid from the group lactic acid, acetic acid, and citric acid. The liquid and powder components are added to a specified volume of water to make a final acid concentrate. The individual components are easily inspected for quality control and the shipping weight is greatly reduced compared to conventional liquid acid concentrates.

  • Patent number: 5656302
Abstract: A stable, shippable microbicidal composition including between about 0.2 to 8% hydrogen peroxide, about 0.2 to 11% peracetic plus acetic acid, 0 to about 1.0% sequestrant such as organic phosphonic acid or its salt and water, and surfactant between 0 and about 1% with the ratio of total acid to H.sub.2 O.sub.2 being between about 1.0 and 11.

  • Patent number: 4906581
Abstract: A method for non-destructive testing for approximation of oxygen transmission in hollow fiber blood oxygenators or the like is provided which method includes passing a first fluid at a predetermined temperature and volume flow rate through the hollows of the fibers and a second fluid at a second predetermined input temperature and volume flow rate across the outside of the fibers and measuring the heat rise or fall of the fluids and comparing the results with standards for a given blood oxygenator device.

  • Patent number: 4068521
Abstract: An ultrasonic air and blood foam detector for use in medical procedures involving extracorporeal handling of blood. A sensor assembly is adapted for positioning about a blood drip chamber and contains ultrasonic transducer means. The blood tube downstream from the drip chamber is preferably placed through the controllable clamp. Electronic circuitry provides excitation to the ultrasonic transducer means and signals transmitted through the chamber are received, amplified and processed by a level detector which provides an output signal for actuating the clamp when a predetermined low signal level occurs, indicating excessive air or foam in the drip chamber. In the preferred embodiment, a clip-on sensor assembly having epoxy lenses is provided.
