Patent number: 6357364Abstract: A paper pallet generally comprises support blocks, a top pad, and a wrap. The support blocks are of a comb configuration, e.g., honeycomb or hexacomb. The top pad is of a corrugated material and is positioned above the support blocks. The wrap is also of a corrugated material and wraps, via direct contact, the top and side surfaces of the top pad as well as wrapping, via direct contact, at least two side surfaces of the support blocks.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2000Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Protecta-Pack SystemsInventors: Michael Maloney, Kevin McNabb, Marlyn Johnson, Richard Winkleman, Randolph J. Patent number: 5114034Abstract: A utility tote container comprising a base panel, a pair of side wall panels, and a pair of end wall panels hingedly connected to the base panel. A pair of end foldover panels are hingedly connected to each end wall panel. The side wall panels and end wall panels are pivoted upwardly to an upright configuration, and the end foldover panels are folded inwardly into parallel abutting contact with the exterior planar surface of the adjacent side wall panel. End panel securing flaps are hingedly connected to each of the end foldover panels, and are received through aligned and correspondingly sized slots in the side wall panels. The end wall securing flaps are folded into parallel abutting contact with the interior planar surface of the adjacent side wall panel, and are secured thereto using a releasable fastener such as mating hook and loop type fasteners. Each end wall panel defines a centered handgrip opening, and a folded rim or shoulder extending along the length of the top edge of the end wall panel.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1991Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Liberty Diversified IndustriesInventors: Leroy Miller, Mark S. Stoll

Patent number: 5038998Abstract: A tote container for perishable produce such as asparagus comprising a pair of identical molded end shells which form the side walls of the tote container, with an intermediate blank cut and scored from a sheet material such as double-faced corrugated plastic extending between and securely attached to each of the end shells. The blank is folded to form a bottom panel, back panel, pivoting top lid and front lid panels, and a front tray panel to the tote container. The tote container defines a receptacle region with an open top and front, and the blank defines a bottom tray portion within that receptacle region.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1990Date of Patent: August 13, 1991Assignee: Liberty Diversified IndustriesInventors: Richard J. Morris, David T. Sarych, Mark S. Stoll, LeRoy Miller, Stanley R. Thorud

Patent number: 5020674Abstract: A container and pallet assembly comprising a generally rectangular pallet with a pair of end walls and a pair of side walls mounted thereon. The container may be folded between an upright container configuration and a collapsed stored configuration. Each end or side wall is constructed from double-faced corrugated plastic sheet material cut and scored to form a blank having hingedly interconnected inner, intermediate, and outer wall panels, lid flaps, and attachment panels. The side or wall panels may be slidably mounted on the pallet using a combination of slots in the associated attachment panels and push-type fasteners to facilitate folding to the stored configuration. The end or side wall blanks may also define internal reinforcing structures for supporting the containers when stacked in a vertical column, and securing structures for fastening the end and side walls in the upright container configuration.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1990Date of Patent: June 4, 1991Assignee: Liberty Diversified IndustriesInventors: Stanley R. Thorud, LeRoy Miller

Patent number: 4762270Abstract: A tote container assembly having a pair of support panels, each support panel being formed from a corrugated plastic material and having a longitudinal grain. The support panels are positioned with their grains perpendicular to one another, and each panel is folded into a U-shape. The edges of the panels are fastened by sonic welds over a wire rim member which extends around the top peripheral edge of the tote container, and defines a pair of handgrips on opposing sides of the container. The corners of the rim member are curved to present stacking shoulders at the top corners of the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1987Date of Patent: August 9, 1988Assignee: Liberty Diversified IndustriesInventors: Mark S. Stoll, Glenn H. Brodin, LeRoy Miller

Patent number: 4446660Abstract: Containers are designed for utilization of the otherwise wasted space provided between structural members of buildings such as joists and studs. Flaps may be folded into or out of position to vary the width of the container depending on the exact distance between structural members. A drawer-like container may be used between joists and a cabinet with door may be mounted between studs.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1981Date of Patent: May 8, 1984Assignee: Liberty Carton Co.Inventors: LeRoy Miller, Stanley R. Thorud, Eric M. Rivkin

Patent number: 4092649Abstract: The recorder includes a heated stylus which is positioned across a heat-sensitive chart by a servo motor to make the stylus position follow the value of an input signal applied to a servo balancing comparing and driving circuit for the motor. A switching circuit, actuated by the pulse signal output of a pulse generator, interconnects the stylus heater, a capacitor, and a source of capacitor charging energy. The switching circuit alternately charges the capacitor from the source and discharges the capacitor into the stylus heater. This causes the stylus to produce a recorded trace on the chart having an intensity which is substantially independent of the resistance of the stylus heater over a given resistance range.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1977Date of Patent: May 30, 1978Assignee: Honeywell Inc.Inventor: Robert Leroy Miller

Patent number: 4079821Abstract: A single surface electromagnetic clutch or braking device is disclosed which transmits torque from an input means to an output means utilizing a plurality of spherical members located in mutually opposing conical recesses within the output member and the armature, respectively. The maximum amount of torque is translated from the input means to the output means directly through the spherical members without the need of a secondary frictional torque translating surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1976Date of Patent: March 21, 1978Assignee: Facet Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Donald Leroy Miller

Patent number: 4052898Abstract: The disclosure of the present invention relates to a torque and mass compensating counterweight system employed with the drive of a cold pilger rolling mill. The counterweight is connected directly to the crank by a sliding block, displaceable in a slot provided in the counterweight, in which the counterweight is arranged to reciprocate 90.degree. out of phase with the crank and is arranged in guides to move in a plane parallel to the direction of movement of the mill.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1976Date of Patent: October 11, 1977Assignee: Wean United, Inc.Inventors: Charles Leroy Miller, Harry Calhoon Ledebur

Patent number: 3978953Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch has a driving clutch member and a driven clutch member with an armature on one of the members and an electromagnet having a pair of poles on the other of the members for providing a driving engagement between the members when the electromagnet is energized. The poles are attached to one another by resilient material or by splines to provide relative axial movement between the poles to enable both poles to engage the armature with substantially equal force. The invention relates to electrically operated friction devices and more particularly to electromagnetic clutches.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1975Date of Patent: September 7, 1976Assignee: Facet Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Donald Leroy Miller
