  • Publication number: 20230225857
Abstract: An intraocular lens (IOL) injector cartridge having one or more modifications from conventional designs which reduce stress and strain in the optic of the IOL during passage through the cartridge. One change includes adding axially-oriented ribs in a funnel portion of the cartridge to enable the cartridge wall to flex outward during passage of the IOL, which is compressed to a great degree in the cartridge lumen. Another modification involves providing a longitudinal step along a segment of the inner lumen which biases one free edge of the optic to tuck or dive under the other free edge and encourage spiral folding as the IOL progresses along the gradually narrowing lumen. The third option is modifying the shape of the lumen within the extreme distal end of the cartridge where the lumen is smallest so that it is neither circular nor oval. Each or all of these modifications may be incorporated into a single cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20200364648
Abstract: An example automated product locker is described herein. The automated product locker can include a housing and a drawer configured to be slidably stowable within the housing. The drawer can define a storage area configured to receive a product. The automated product locker can include a plurality of visual indicators configured to indicate respective positions of respective units of the product within the storage area, and a machine vision system configured to capture information about the product. The machine vision system can include an optical device. Additionally, the automated product locker can include a controller operably coupled to the machine vision system. The controller can be configured to inventory the product based, at least in part, on the information about the product, and cause one or more of the visual indicators that are associated with a desired unit of the product to actuate.

  • Patent number: 10368621
Abstract: The packages described by this invention all have reduced “head space,” that is, the distance from lid to lens. Packages contain dimples to achieve this reduced head space. Specifically, packages are designed with dimple sag equal to or less than 1.90-mm, or volume displaced equal to or less than 360 ?l. Combined with the existing primary packaging, it has been found that such conditions provide for reduction in folded lens rate during shipping and handling. As well, lenses stored or having an extended time in low head space packages in a “foil down” orientation now have characteristics closer lenses stored in a “foil up orientation.” The packages finally include a foil 3D pattern at a smaller scale than the dimple, by embossing or other methods allowing reduce lens sticking to the foil as well as an added anti-counterfeiting measure.

  • Patent number: 9995570
Abstract: Disclosed are in-line apparatuses, systems and methods for measuring a physical characteristic of a constant supply of an ophthalmic device, the apparatuses including: an interferometer; an automatic alignment system that positions the interferometer or ophthalmic device; and a central processing unit in communication with the automatic alignment system and receiving measurements from the interferometer. The in-line apparatus measures the desired physical dimensions of the ophthalmic device in real time. In-line systems, apparatuses and methods for measuring a physical characteristic of an ophthalmic device can include: a camera imaging an actual position of a feature of the ophthalmic device; a vibration resistant interferometer projecting a surface measurement beam having a wavelength that transmits through a beam splitter onto the ophthalmic device; and an automatic alignment system positioning the interferometer and the camera.
