  • Patent number: 4603908
Abstract: A heavy duty tractor drawn lift deck trailer for transporting load holding pallet frame units each having a ground engaging support structure enabling it to be picked up for transport or dropped off for storage without need for additional equipment or personnel. The trailer features an over-center mechanical lock for the lift deck which will be power engaged as the lift deck is elevated into raised transport position and power released as the lift deck is permitted to descend to lowered loading position on the trailer support frame. The lock is connected between a point on the lift deck and a point on one of the trailer hinge panels and remains engaged when the lift deck is tilted for dumping.

  • Patent number: 4568236
Abstract: A tractor drawn lift bed highway trailer for transporting high tonnage loads over the highway, utilizing pallet frame units adapted to be picked up or dropped off quickly without the need for additional equipment or personnel. The trailer has a relatively light, strong main frame; a lift bed adapted to be elevated from lowered loading position forwardly and upwardly into engagement with the gooseneck for additional rigidity during transport; improved protection for the load and the tractor in event of an emergency stop; and improved cornering characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4474359
Abstract: A heavy duty lift bed trailer adapted for in-plant or highway use to transport high tonnage loads on pallet frame units which can be picked up or dropped off quickly without the need for additional equipment or personnel. The trailer may be coupled to a tractor vehicle by means of a fixed gooseneck built to a conventional fifth wheel height. It includes a plurality of centrally located hinge panels pivotally connected between said main frame and said lift bed for constraining the latter to move in parallel relation to said frame between a lowered loading position and a raised transport position; an improved motion arresting locking mechanism securing the lift bed for transport; a heavy duty suspension adapted to equalize the load on each axle; and is capable of handling eccentric as well as laterally centered loads.

  • Patent number: 4103793
Abstract: A folding gooseneck trailer is disclosed having a positioning system for positioning the main bed of the trailer relative to the ground as well as the loading bed, or hitch platform, relative to the main bed and the ground. The loading bed of the trailer is pivotally mounted on the front end of the trailer main bed by a pair of spaced connecting links so that the loading bed can be raised and lowered relative to the main bed. The main bed has wheels at the rear end and, in the raised position, the loading bed holds the front end of the main bed off of the ground when the loading bed is mounted on the fifth wheel of a tractor, as by a king pin. A power mechanism is connected between the loading bed and a clevis plate attached to an elongated sliding element the lower portion of which terminates in a ground engaging foot. The sliding element is received in a channel in the main bed so that the sliding element is constrained to vertical movement in opposite longitudinal directions.

  • Patent number: 4061353
Abstract: A lift bed highway trailer adapted to be coupled to a tractor to transport heavy loads through use of pallet frame units that can be quickly picked up and discharged at any point, including an improved power actuated mechanism in the trailer gooseneck structure and in the suspension subframe for positively locking the liftable bed in the raised transport position.

  • Patent number: 4060145
Abstract: A lift bed highway trailer having a wheeled suspension and adapted to be coupled to a tractor to transport heavy loads through use of pallet frame units that can be quickly picked up and discharged at any point, including a suspension subframe with guide means for maintaining the suspension in alignment with the main frame when the latter is in raised or lowered position, the subframe also including provision for withstanding the thrust of the main frame power lift means.
