  • Patent number: 10379635
Abstract: A pointing device (200) for controlling a computer user interface is presented. The pointing device has a housing (210) with a base part (212). It also has an elongate support member (12) and an elongate cursor navigation member (14), the cursor navigation member being movably arranged for rotation about the support member and translation along the support member, the cursor navigation member further being depressible with respect to the base part. A plurality of sensors (602, 604, 610) for detecting rotation, translation and depression of the cursor navigation member is provided, as is computer interface circuitry (608) for connection to a computer. A controller (606) is connected to the plurality of sensors, the controller being configured to cause transmission of data regarding rotation, translation and depression of the cursor navigation member to the computer through the computer interface circuitry.

  • Patent number: 7857272
Abstract: This invention provides a holder for an imaging probe that attaches to a flexible arm, which accommodates a variety of sizes and shapes of probes, is lightweight and allows for easy attachment and detachment of probes. The probe holder includes a pair of confronting clamp plates that include clamping jaws for holding a probe or other item at their distal end. The distal ends of the plates can include elastomeric pads that conform to the shape of the probe being gripped. The proximal end of each plate includes a hemispherical well that engages a ball on a base member to define a highly flexible ball joint. This ball joint allows for easy fine adjustment of probe alignment, rotation and tilting, while frictionally maintaining the set position. A variety of alternate alignment and movement-limiting components can be employed.

  • Patent number: 5894302
Abstract: An ergonomic housing for a computer mouse helpful in minimizing the occurrence and alleviating the symptoms of repetitive strain injuries is disclosed. The mouse housing includes a palm support area having a hump which is an asymmetrically skewed bulge about with a user's hand may pivot. The palm support area also includes a tapered tail for supporting the hand and wrist off the surface. The housing includes at least one button which is elevated and angled to minimize flexion of and accompanying stress on the tendons of the finger. A thumb support is also provided to allow the thumb to rest off the surface and to aid in lifting the mouse.

  • Patent number: 5042688
Abstract: An apparatus for optically controlling the volume of adhesive extruded from an orifice. A camera continuously monitors the adhesive discharged from the orifice; this adhesive is not applied to the target area until its volume is within preestablished limits. When the volume of adhesive is visually determined to be acceptable it is then applied to the target area. The camera is used again, to confirm the proper amount of adhesive has been applied to the target area by measuring the volume of adhesive remaining on the orifice after contacting the target area.
