Abstract: An electronic health care compliance assistance system includes a user device and a host station used by a health care provider. The user device generates voice messages to remind a user when and how to take or refill prescribed medications, to attend to other health matters, and to keep doctors' appointments. Compressed digital speech is used to generate clear and natural sounding voice messages. A health care provider uses the host station to compose messages and to store a database of speech messages and related data. Data are transferred from the host station to the user device to generate a regimen that is customized for the user. A queuing system is provided for messages relating to medications having common dosing times. A parameter is defined to permit adaptive rescheduling of messages when a user does not respond. The user device provides adaptive and interactive audible and visual prompts to alert the user when one or more messages are ready to be played.

Abstract: A data source is connected through a gating circuit to all stages of an asynchronous shift register. The gating circuit senses the full or empty status of each stage of the shift register and enters an incoming bit of data into that stage of the shift register which is the empty stage nearest the output, and has no stage preceding it which is full. The arrangement decreases the delay time normally encountered by data as it is shifted through the shift register, the decrease in delay time being related to the number of empty stages in the register at the time a bit of data is entered.

Abstract: An internally programable data entry system having a microprogram memory, a microprocessor logic and programable storage means for storing program data and constant data. The data entry system permits program data and constant data to be automatically loaded into the storage means from prepared punch cards having indicia and data thereon which identifies the type of data being entered in the storage means, the address for storing said data and a chained address which indicates the address of the next program to be used after the program currently in progress is completed.
