Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for a media guidance application that selectively provides a translation corresponding to a media asset based on a level of proficiency of the language required to comprehend the media asset and a level of proficiency of the user corresponding to the language. The media guidance application provides an output comprising the translation in response to determining that the level of proficiency of the user is lower than the level of proficiency of the language required to comprehend the media asset.

Abstract: Methods and system are discussed herein for improvements for sharing authorizations to access media content between multiple user devices. Specifically, a media guidance application may facilitate automatic sharing of user authorizations between multiple user devices through the use of specially generated authorization data, which may be transferred between the multiple user devices using images.

Abstract: In one aspect, the invention provides a method for operating an electronic program guide system. The method comprises displaying a first view wherein graphical indicators each of which corresponds to a broadcast channel are displayed on a display; detecting input selecting one of the graphical indicators; and displaying a second view in response to the detected input, wherein programming information relating to a channel corresponding to the selected graphical indicator is displayed on the display.

The user signals the set-top box of his video viewing system that he is interested in downloading the audio/video data file being offered. The box records the time, the channel being viewed, and, where applicable, the user ID. The box then sends this information to the controlling server when it next reports in. The server transmits the requested data, either over the Internet or by broadcasting it back to the set-top box, where it can be downloaded to a desired format.

The invention facilitates search and navigation through a large multimedia database. The type of information (e.g., graphics, video, utility application) that is contained in a target document or page can also be denoted. A color coding scheme may be used to provide information related to a hyperlink. In a hierarchy, a page may be linked to two or more chapters, or a paragraph may be linked to two or more pages.
