  • Patent number: 8166351
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for filtering redundant fault events from an event stream generated by devices on a network based on a statistical correlation between fault events are provided. Event history data is collected from the fault events generated by devices on the network over a period of time. Statistical correlations are computed between each distinct pair of fault events in the event history data. Based on the statistical correlations, a list of redundant fault events and associated significant events is identified. The list of redundant events and associated significant events is utilized to filter the redundant fault events from the event stream generated by the devices on the network.

  • Patent number: 7957427
Abstract: A method and apparatus that use dynamic latency to estimate traffic flows in a communication network are disclosed. For example, the method obtains a demand matrix having at least one point pair demand, and satisfies each of the at least one point pair demand in the demand matrix by selecting a shortest path that minimizes a dynamic latency and a number of hops.

  • Patent number: 7177905
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a conference call mediation service which allows for the scheduling of multi-participant conferences over the Internet is presented. A subscriber who desires to host a conference sends a conference request to a Web Service Control Point (WSCP) with attributes regarding the conference (i.e., date, time, conference agenda, etc.). The WSCP generates a unique conference ID, identifying the attributes of the proposed conference, and broadcasts a conference invitation to potential conference participants. Potential participants respond to the conference invitation and may make changes to, or modify, the attributes of the proposed conference. The WSCP acts as a negotiator between potential conference participants by continuing to resend the modified and unmodified conference attributes until an agreement regarding the conference is reached. At that point the WSCP schedules the conference with a communication service provider and sends a confirmation to each participant.

  • Patent number: 6587458
Abstract: A method and apparatus for an Internet Caller-ID Delivery Plus Service is presented. The telephone numbers and Internet accounts of a subscriber are aggregated in a database, with one of the telephone numbers being designated as the primary contact number for the subscriber. When the primary contact number is called by a caller attempting to reach the subscriber, the corresponding telephone numbers and Internet accounts of the subscriber are retrieved from the database by the Service. Each telephone number, including the primary contact number, is then dialed by the Service and the call is connected to the first numbers answered. In the case where none of the subscriber's telephone numbers are answered, each Internet account is analyzed to determine if the subscriber is currently on-line. If the subscriber is on-line, a pop-up window with the caller's ID will appear on the screen.

  • Publication number: 20030061354
Abstract: A call is set up between a subscriber premises and a call center. The subscriber premises includes a personal computer and a telephone. A call set up request is received from a gateway responsive to the personal computer of the subscriber premises. A query is sent to the call center. An availability reply is received from the call center, and a call set up instruction is prepared for setting up the call between the telephone of the subscriber premises and the call center. In some cases, an unavailability reply is received from the call center. The time-in-queue until the call center will be available to receive the call is estimated, and a call queue status message is prepared for delivery to the gateway and thence to the subscriber premises.

  • Patent number: 6421437
Abstract: A system and method performs rerouting of an incoming call to a telecommunication services subscriber to provide intelligent network services based on proprietary data about the subscriber's services. This proprietary data is within the control of the telecommunication service provider's equipment. Rerouting is performed without providing access to the proprietary data by other telecommunication service providers. Using such a system and method the subscriber's telecommunication provider can effectively provide intelligent network services without risking dissemination of that proprietary data.

  • Patent number: 6421442
Abstract: A method is provided which reduces post-dial delay in a number portability environment. In particular, a switching office which controls call routing to portable numbers (NPA-NXXs) contains a cache for which location routing number response information may be stored. The processing office concurrently checks the cache for LRN response information corresponding to the dialed number and launches a query to a number portability database. Thus, if the LRN response information in the cache is valid then the call will be routed in the timeliest manner. However, if either the cache does not have any LRN response information or the LRN response information in the cache proves not to be valid then, the switching office will have received the LRN response information from the database more quickly based on the concurrent launching of a query. Therefore, a more timely attempt at establishing a proper connection to the dialed number will occur thereby reducing post-dial delay.

  • Patent number: 5943411
Abstract: A method of routing an interim NP call in which it is determined to give a called number interim NP redirection rather than conventional RCF redirection when the called number is to be ported. When a ported call is to receive interim NP redirection and SS7 networking is used, an Initial Address Message for the call is created with the Called Party Number parameter of the Initial Address Message populated with the Location Routing Number for the switch to which the called number has been ported. The Generic Address Parameter of the Initial Address Message is populated with the called number and the M bit of the Forward Call Indicator parameter of the Initial Address Message is set. The call is then redirected to the switch to which the called number has been ported based on the Location Routing Number in the Called Party Number parameter of an Initial Address Message. This method avoids the use of RCF "shadow numbers" and the need to query an external long-term NP database.

  • Patent number: 5488569
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for interfacing different service creation environments (SCEs) and execution environments (EEs) in a telecommunication system. A telecommunication system interface in accordance with the present invention includes at least one SCE to be interfaced to a plurality of service EEs; a parser for parsing output code from the SCE to form a parse tree representing a telecommunication service developed in the SCE; an intermediate code generator for generating an intermediate code representing nodes of the parse tree such that the intermediate code preserves substantially all the information contained within the SCE output code; and a target code generator for generating a target code for each of the EEs from the intermediate code, such that the telecommunication service developed in the SCE may be provided in each of the EEs.
