  • Publication number: 20190380308
Abstract: A claw shearing device including a pair of shearing elements having cutting edges that face one another, a fastener configured to pivotably attach the shearing elements, and an adjustable limiting mechanism connected to the pair of shearing elements. The cutting edges form an orifice for the insertion of a claw of an animal or a pet therebetween, where the maximum size of the orifice is limited by the adjustable limiting mechanism. The device is configured to bring together the shearing elements to cut the claw or nail of the animal or pet at a predetermined length.

  • Patent number: 10037684
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a waterproof pullcord station for management of patient care. The pullcord station includes a cord, and a face plate assembly coupled to a wall plate assembly. The face plate assembly includes a cord retainer coupled to the cord, and an actuator post coupled to the cord retainer. The wall plate assembly includes a wall plate comprising a frontside and a backside, wherein the frontside comprises a single material and the backside comprises an opening, the wall plate serving as a housing for an electronic circuit. The wall plate assembly further includes the electronic circuit wirelessly coupled to the actuator post and configured to determine whether the cord has been pulled by monitoring the wireless coupling between the actuator post and the electronic circuit. The wall plate assembly further includes a back cap configured to interface with the opening of the backside.

  • Publication number: 20170318785
Abstract: A claw shearing device including a first member and a second member, each having a connecting portion, a handle portion, and a plurality of grooves formed at an end opposite the handle portion. A fastener is provided to pivotably attach the first member to the second member. The device includes first and second detachable shearing elements, configured to be releasably engageable with the plurality of grooves of the first and second members, respectively. The first and the second detachable shearing elements are configured to form an orifice for the insertion of a claw of a pet or an animal, where the maximum diameter of the orifice is no greater than the maximum diameter of an animal's claw as measured from a tip of the claw to the beginning of a quick that is closest to the tip. The device is configured to bring together the shearing elements to cut the claw of the pet or animal at a predetermined length.

  • Patent number: 6877218
Abstract: A lightweight, portable hand tool is provided for applying an insulation-piercing electrical connector, having insulation displacement conductive elements, to an insulated electrical cable. The tool is made of injection molded, impact resistant plastic and includes a manually grippable frame, with a loading die on the frame for receiving and holding the insulation-piercing electrical connector. A manually actuable, movable portion of the frame moves relative to electrical connector to cause the insulation on the wires to be pierced and thereby electrically connected to the connector. The tool is suitable for use with electrical cable having one or more pairs of wire, such as the typical four pair Ethernet cable.

  • Patent number: 6693514
Abstract: A signaling device for annunciating in a hallway of a building a status of a monitored person or object is provided. The signaling device includes at least two vertically stacked sections for announcing a status of the monitored person or object with each section announcing a status of a different condition. Each section includes a solid-state, light-emitting device (LED) that is supported such that when the device is mounted to the wall of the hallway a beam of light from the LED is substantially aimed at a wall opposing the wall to which the device is mounted. A pair of opposing planar surfaces extends along diverging planes and is supported over each LED to receive the LED's beam of light. Each of the planar surfaces extends at an angle approximately equal to a characteristic optical beam angle of the beam of light.
