  • Publication number: 20100154496
Abstract: A low-profile, binary, sliding tumbler, user-settable combination lock of few parts can be easily and quickly opened, even in the dark. The lock generally comprises a stationary case or frame including a bottom plate, a middle plate and a top plate, a plurality of laterally sliding binary tumblers, and a longitudinally sliding bolt. The tumblers have a bearing portion sandwiched for lateral sliding movement between the top plate and the middle plate. Each tumbler has a handle extending upward and a locking member extending downward for selective engagement with transverse channels in the bolt. When the bolt is disengaged, the top plate can be removed and the tumblers can be changed or exchanged so as to change the combination. The lock may be modified to include any number of tumblers in multiple rows such that the combination may be very large.

  • Patent number: 6883440
Abstract: Safe 10 has a firmly secured door 60 and latching and locking mechanisms on the frame 30 rather than on door 60. Door opening side 160 includes fingers 66 with catches 68. A movable latch plate 72 includes a plurality of openings 75 for receiving and retaining fingers 66. A locking mechanism 80 includes a main bolt 81 for locking latch plate 72, a first lock 90 actuated through frame 30 for locking main bolt 81, and a second lock 95, preferably actuated remotely, for locking main bolt 81. The latch and locking mechanisms do not operate through door 60 such that the front of door 60 may be featureless. Safe 10 is adapted for mounting in a wall 100 to framing 110, such as to studs 140.

  • Patent number: 5738020
Abstract: A combination lock box and mounting device allows the lock box to be easily attached and unattached. The lock box includes a back wall having a plurality of key-hole openings therein and a lid having a closed position and an open position. The mounting device comprises a mounting bracket and a locking plate. The locking bracket is to be secured to a supporting surface and includes a plurality of flared head shafts extending through the key-holes of the lock box. The locking plate has a plurality of key-hole openings. The locking plate is inserted into the lock box to a locking position wherein the locking plate's key-holes receive the shafts of the mounting bracket and lock the lock box onto the mounting bracket. The lid, in the closed position, retains the locking plate in the locking position.
