    Abstract: A communication network (100) includes a first server (124) and a second server, such as any of the servers (121-23), connected via a common network (101). First server (124) owns a record data (180) associated with at least one process running for serving a client device (174.) The second server keeps a copy of the record data. First server (124) performs a Hashing function over record data (180) to produce a first Hash value. The second server similarly performs the same or similar Hashing function over the copy of the record data to produce a second Hash value. First server (124) sends the first Hash value to the second server for comparison. If the first Hash value fails to match to the second Hash value, a latest copy of the record data (180) is sent from first server (124) to the second server upon request.

    Abstract: A transmitting device (15) for communication over a multiplicity of networks having a communication manager (22) and a mobility manager (20). The mobility manager (20) includes a database (40) having a net table (42) of potential networks and a filter (38). The filter (38) generates a prioritized list of qualifying networks over which a data object is to be transferred. Also described is a method for sifting through and filtering the net table (42) of potential networks and their characteristics. A prioritized list of qualifying networks is generated wherein each qualifying network has a priority. A transmission request is generated based on a combination of the data object and the prioritized list of qualifying networks and is transmitted over the selected qualifying network (26), (28), or (30) having a highest priority.

    Abstract: A profile is maintained, either in a central profile data base (106) or in a more distributed manner that includes local profile data bases (706). These profile data bases include preference information for particular users, which preference information is utilized by the system to direct various messages from various sources to various destinations for a particular user. By accessing the system through an appropriate input source (708), the user can provide temporary over-ride instructions that cause this preference information to be temporarily altered. When so altered, messages that would ordinarily be directed to a location in accordance with the original entries to the profile data base will be directed instead to a temporary destination (707) as identified by the user. This temporary destination can either be identified in particular at the time of entering the temporary over-ride instruction, or can be pre-identified in an over-ride plan (709).

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for routing information within a communication system (100) is based upon evaluating various attributes (310) of the information to be routed. The methodology employs processing steps including, but not limited to receiving a message (300) having a key (304) and a first set of message attributes (310), each attribute having a value. Extracting the key (304) from the message to index a data base (400) in order to retrieve records (410) having the key and containing a representation of a logic function (406) that describes a second set of message attributes. The first set of attributes values are applied to the logic function (406) of the first retrieved record to determine whether the function is true or false. If true, that data base record is selected for use in routing the information. Otherwise, the first set of attribute values are applied to the logic functions of each indexed data base record (410) until a true condition is encountered.

    Abstract: In a switched integrated wideband and narrowband multiservices digital network (FIG. 1), the network control complex (612) includes a program-controlled call processing arrangement (800) that comprises a point-to-point call processing portion (8001) for handling point-to-point calls and a proxy vendor call processing portion (8002) for handling calls to broadcast program service vendors. For quick response to "channel change" requests from subscribers, the proxy vendor portion handles all calls within a single process (500). For ease of call control, the point-to-point portion handles each call via two processes (650, 660) one for each of the calling and called portions of each call. A message router (8000) receives messages from subscriber terminal equipment (400) requesting control functions for calls and routes them to the appropriate one of the proxy vendor and point-to-point processes.

    Abstract: In a multiservices digital network (FIG. 1), comprising separate narrowband switch (607) and wideband switches (505, 606), the network control complex (612) includes a program-controlled call processing arrangement (800) that is program-independent of a resource management arrangement (803) and of the physical network. The call processing arrangement views the network as comprising logical channels and logical call paths interconnecting logical channels. It does not distinguish between narrowband and wideband communications; it responds to subscriber (102) messages requesting subscriber functions for both narrowband and wideband communications by directing the resource management arrangement to establish and dismantle logical call paths and to create and destroy logical and physical connections between the logical channels and the logical call paths.
